I know this is something my husband would NOT want to do, but i figure maybe one day while him and the kids are in the pool- I could look around to get an idea of where to stay on our next trip. Look....we havent even left for this trip yet and Im already planning my next one! lol.
I am wondering if you can go in and look around and maybe check out the rooms?

Sure you can. Checking out a room may depend on if they have any free CM's at the time of your visit.

We always visit/tour different resorts during our stay. Most of the time we will go to one of the restaurants and walk around the place after. On a romantic adults only trip we like to have dinner at one of the Deluxe resorts. They are the more romantic places to be at night. Another fun little excursion is taking the boat from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans. We prefer Riverside for exploring. The boat ride is enjoyable and it takes you past the old tree house accomodations that are now used for employees. Kids will enjoy a visit to the AKL. The breakfast buffet at Boma is one of our favorites.
I should warn you though. Once you visit a place like the Wilderness Lodge, you are almost certain to want to stay there on your next trip.
