Can you tell me about March?

What’s March like? We are in the early stages of planning our 4th vacation to DLR, one in October and two in December. Those trips were taken in the second week of each month and although crowded it wasn’t awful or anything that scared us away. We love DLR during the holidays it’s our favorite. However we are kinda ready to see the parks without the decorations for a change. So we were thinking March 10th until the 16th of 2018. Can anyone compare second week of December or October to the second week of March, in crowds and park hours, entertainment etc?

That's still pretty far out in terms of planning, so it's hard to say what events will be happening at that time. Easter is on April 1st in 2018, so you'll probably get there before the heart of the Spring Break crowds arrive (often times the week before and after Easter), but there are plenty of schools that are on break throughout March. There are some Spring events that may be happening, but the schedule changes from year-to-year so it's hard to say what will be happening (and when) in 2018.
  • For past few years, there has been the Egg-Stravaganza, but we don't know when it'll start (it started early last year and much closer to Easter in 2015).
  • There is also the DCA F&W Festival happen for much of March this year (3/10-4/16), but that's considerably different from 2016's schedule (April).
Events that often happen in early March include Natural Product Expo West (Anaheim Convention Center), St. Patrick's Day (usually just a few food items in DTD and some themed treats in the candy shops), mini-Gays Days weekend, and Orange County Restaurant Week (mostly DTD).

In terms of the schedule, that really depends on whether the parks are in Spring Break Season mode or not. I know this not anyone's favorite answer, but you'll really have to wait until closer to the date to know what is happening and what the schedule will be when you go.

We usually go in March over spring break. Our dates this year are the 14th-17th. We have made trips in both October and December. I think you will find the crowds more comparable to October. The hotel rates seems to be running similar to last Oct as well. We are only doing one day in each park so its our plan to go in on Weds/thurs for lower crowds and choosing each park when its not EE. Ive already created a couple mock touring plans and there does not seem to be a problem in planning everything including a 3 hr break. So with good planning you should be able to handle the crowd and still do all on your list.

My family normally always goes in the beginning of March, normally our spring break is the last week of March and we like to avoid those crowds if possible. This year our spring break is the second week of April which is weird but everything is off this year and the next for us.

We went in Mid march a few years ago. It was COLD!! Like, wear every thing you bought at one time, COLD! And it rained too, often-add a poncho on top! But, one of our best trips!! Wet jeans and all, we loved it! No long lines, walked onto most rides, and our ponchos helped with sitting on wet rides! My 16 yo Dd gets upset when the weather forecast in DL is sunny! :beach: Go figure!

We went in the last week of March and it was busy. We took advantage of the magic mornings. By 11:00 am , it was wall to wall. I was quite surprised how busy it was for that time of year. It was spring break for us. Spring break varies for every school, tho. Another thing, I agree with Julieheyer. Yes, it was very cold for end of March. I didn't bring enough warm clothes especially for the evenings. It was quite windy most nights. Unfortunately, fireworks were cancelled every night because of high winds.

Thanks everyone for your info! March 10-16 it is! Looks like we should be able to handle the crowds without a problem and living in Michigan we know how to deal with cold weather. Thanks everyone!
