Can you tell me about Cracker Barrel restaurant?

We were at Cracker Barrel last week for the first time. Neither me nor DS cared much for it. We WON'T be going back.

Uno? Watch out!!! DS and I had LUNCH there one day and it was $30! Not going back there either!!

I think they're okay... we'll go there when we're craving something... like breakfast for dinner... but if we want, like, veggies and chicken fried steak or chicken, we head for Blackeyed Pea.

I think everyone should try it once! Its just good ol homecooking in a cozy environment =)

I used to really enjoy their biscuits and apple butter and loved their sweet tea. Otherwise I'm not crazy about their food though the Cracker Barrel's I've visited in the southern states do seem to have better food than the ones here in the midwest.

I really like Cracker Barrell. Don't eat there often, but when we are on the road we know we can always get a good meal and a clean bathroom there. The gift shop always has a nice variety of local items as well.

We've always liked them. Since we don't have them around here we end up stopping at them on the way to WDW. I didn't even realize they had a lot of gravy covered stuff. Everything I've eaten never had any gravy on it. DD, now 5, loves stopping there on the way to WDW as she gets to buy a toy. I love the country stuff they sell and am always buying there. Two years ago I found this really cute candy garland for the tree and bought what they had. I ended up stopping at every CB on the way home to buy enough for my tree! We must stop at CB and South of the Border each trip.

I LOVE Cracker Barrell - breakfast, lunch, or supper. I am a huge fan of their breakfast casserole, hashbrown casserole, and their meatloaf. DH and I have never had a bad meal there after all our many trips. ::yes:: The store is great as well. If they have the chocolate coca cola cake while you are there - you have to try it! ::yes::

not my favorite restaurant, but will eat there on occasion. I love the store part!

I will say this, their cornbread is an abomination :crazy2:

WOW!!! Finally more dining choices near the wrentham outlets! It's a 45 minute ride for us and boy is my DH going to be excited (maybe he will forget how much $$$ I always spend when I go). He loves the pot roast and hash brown casserole. I think the chicken pie is good. Also drive thru Dunkin donut coffee for the ride home. Should make for a great trip now! How close to opening is everything?

We like Cracker Barrel. We were so excited when they finally came to NH. The food is really the kind of thing that most people have as their "comfort foods". All that fattening stuff we love but aren't supposed to eat. A lot of it is southern type foods, but there's plenty to choose from. It's all American. Every Cracker Barrel we've been to has been very clean. The service has sometimes been slow, but they're big restaurants and are very busy all the time. So it's understandable. The gift stores are neat.

Let's see....it's to die for!

Go on a Sunday and get the Fried Chicken.....

The biscuits are out of this world....along with the special carrot cake they do once a year. YUM!!

We all like Cracker Barrell particularly DH. It's simple comfort food and most of it is decent. I LOVE the chicken and dumplings but I try to order a salad most of the time. Their gift shop is cute and they are always VERY clean which is a pleasure when traveling.

Funny that someone mentioned Black Eyed Pea. DH likes that even better but DS and I can't stand that place. Their meals taste like canned and frozen food to me.

Oh, I forgot to add, Marie loves their gift shop, and it is a nice place to have a 'pre-meet' to a DIS meet, we have done that several times here, so many like the place.

My daughter likes them because they are relatively inexpensive for a lot of food. I find the food to be heavy.

LOL that why I usually get a salad as my side. Everything is cooked like my grandmother cooked. Lots of butter, fatback etc.

I agree with your DD. Lot of food for not a lot of $$. Can't understand the post above that said portions were small.

I've always loved the Cracker Barrel...after all, I am Southern, born and bred....so the food is scrumdiddlyupmtious! I just LOVE their breakfasts, the biscuits, the country fried steak (AKA chicken fried steak), the pot roast is yummy, and the hash brown casserole is fabulous!! And as someone else said, ALWAYS order the Coca-Cola Cake if it's on the menu!! (I finally got a recipe for one...oh y!)

Now that I'm a mom, though, I really love it. When travelling, I like knowing a good place to stop where I don't just have the choice of french fries or french fries to go with the cheeseburger or chicken strips for the kids! We go to Cracker Barrel and get real food.....pot roast, fried chicken, salads, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, etc. I try not to overload on the fast food but it gets hard when travelling, so we always look for Cracker Barrel. The food is great, the restrooms are usually clean, and the shop is fun to browse. BONUS: if the kids are in need of distraction at the table, I just go out to the gift shop and grab a coloring book or sticker book to keep them busy! Just add it to my bill :)

I just love Cracker Barrel!

The nearest one to where I live is 35 miles up the interstate, so we don't get there often at all.

And because I eat there 2 or 3 times a year at most, I don't worry about how fattening it is. A fattening meal once in a while doesn't hurt much.

My favorite meal to order is the chicken and dumplings with collard greens and hashbrown casserole.

And I love the gift shop and the porch with its rocking chairs too.
