can you talk with a British

I can a little. My mom is from London, and still has a little bit of an accent. I was much better when I was little. Everytime I would go to England, I would come back with an accent. My parents would laugh! :lmao:

axcent ?, I cant always wanted to be able to do that, when i try I always end up sounding like Arnold Schwarzenegger

What are you complaining about..at least you can do Austrian accents:)

Yes, I can. I'm not from Britain nor have I ever been there but I can do the accent.

I'm actually pretty good at it. I can't do a Scottish accent for anything though - and my mother is from there!!!

I guess so - people from England have asked me what part of London I'm from!

I can also do a pretty mean Scottish accent. When I try to emulate the Lucky Charms leprechaun, it turns Scottish. It's like he and Scotty from Star Trek had a baby!

I can to some extent. I had a friend who spent 2 years in England. Then I also took French, Spanish and Chinese in school. Learning accents was something I just did.

In fact, if I'm around certain people too long, I just pick up their accent

I can't but 2 of my DDs can. In fact, my middle one loves to pretend to be British when we go to Disney. A few years ago, she was talking to a lady in the restrrom at the Brown Derby restaurant and actually had her believing that she was from England. That is, until the lady stopped by our table on her way back from the restroom to meet DDs 'British family' - her cover was blown! :lmao: The lady's reaction was hysterical.

Pop Daddy, We gotta stop meeting like this :rotfl::surfweb::lmao::cool1::rotfl2::cloud9:

Well actually working in a Bank Call Center affords me to pop in and out of MANY accents. I can do British, Russian, German, New York, Southern, probably more if i think on it hard enough.:laughing::laughing:

yes. but im australian so i just have to speak more posh than usual.

bet no one can do an australian accent ;)

I am a really good mimic. I can mimic something I hear within five to ten minutes with pretty impressive accuracy.... after that it all goes to heck.

My boyfriend can when he's trying to do a British accent. :)

And when he's trying to do a Southern accent, he sounds British! He's so horrible at accents, it's hilarious. Sad thing is, we live in Texas, so you'd think he'd know how to sound Southern...

I can, and my wife can as well. She is PERFECT at it!!!! Her neighbor was from England, and she has a very strong accent. She grew up with her children as friends, so she spent a lot of time around them. She really has it down pat.
I got into "impersonating the Brits" on our many trips to Cancun. They were all over Cancun. We'd just sit and listen to them talk.:rotfl2: I LOVE the accent!!! (sp?)
We also have our GPS voice as Emily (English British).:thumbsup2

We also speak Spanish, but the British accent is just much more cool.
My son is Autistic. He has a really strange accent that is a mixture of English, Spanish, and British. (Too many trips to WDW?????:rotfl2::rotfl2:) He often gets asked where he is from, and a lot of people think he has some British in him.

I'm actually really good at accents.. any kind of accent, I bet I can do it.
British, Russian, Irish, French, Bahamian, you name it. Even United States accents- Minnesota, NY, Chicago, Hillbilly, Southern, etc.

It's about the only remotely interesting thing I do well

Nice to see that someone realizes there is really no such thing as a British accent. There are regional accents within Great Britain.

A Geordie is going to sound different than a Scouser who sounds different than a Man of Kent, who probably sounds a lot like a Kentish Man.

You beat me to it. I can barely understand the Geordie accent, LOL, I used to do a good Scouse accent. I am good at an Irish accent.
I have a Glasgow accent, my friend (who lives 15 minutes from me) has a Falkirk accent and they sound totally different. Heck Gordon Brown is Scottish and he sounds nothing like me.
I would love to know what accent everyone actually classes as British. I'm guessing it's an English accent, probably London.

One thing I've learned with Scottish relatives is to not even try to guess where the accent comes from. You might offend someone.

Dad is from Paisley, BTW. He knows a bit of Gaelic too, just to mess things up! :upsidedow
