There are a total of 3 monorail loops. One goes from TTC to Epcot and back. One goes from TTC to MK to TTC to MK, etc. The third goes from TTC to MK, but it stops at the resorts. Sorry, I can't remember if it is CR, then MK, then GF, then Poly, then TTC OR Poly, then GF, then MK, then CR, then TTC.
I've heard of people strolling through the Polynesian Resort to the TTC to catch the monorail there.
The route goes from Poly to GF to MK to CR to TTC and back to Poly. So if you wanted to only ride the monorail, it would take about 10-15 minutes just to get to the TTC. Once you got to the TTC, you would have to get out, walk out, then back in a different entrence to get the Epoct/TTC loop.
If you don't mind a short walk, there is a beautiful path from the Poly to the TTC. It only took about 5 minutes to get there from our room at the Tolelau building.
As others have indicated, if you wanted to take the monorail from the Poly to Epcot, you could take the local (AKA Resort) monorail around Seven Seas Lagoon to the TTC and then switch to the Epcot monorail. But you'll find it easier, quicker to just walk from the Poly to the TTC and catch the monorail there.
The local monorail goes clockwise around the lagoon and stops at the Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom and the Contemporary before ariving at the TTC.
