Can you take sunscreen on plane?

Yes, but...it has to be in a 3oz or smaller container, and in your 1 quart bag of liquids/gels. Put the 1 quart bag through security separately from your other carryons.

I bought 3 oz (or 100ml) containers at the store in the travel section, then I usually "decant" sunscreen into one bottle for each of us. Put them in our 311 baggies, and then put the big sizes of sunscreen into our checked luggage (inside one or two zip top bags).

That way we're covered for a day or so if our luggage is delayed.

Although, one time I didn't have time before we left to buy new sunscreen, and since we were renting a car anyway I just put it on my list of things to pick up. The big Target (can't remember the street...192, maybe?) was very useful for that! (they also have a huge Disney souvenir section...actually it seems that ALL the stores around there do)

I buy a bunch of 1 oz sunscreens and take those down. Not only can you take them on the plane (as long as they are in your 1 quart size bag) so you can use them arrival day, they are great to carry around so you can touch up on your face and arms throughout the day.

You can bring sunscreen towelettes on the plane. I use Supergoop brand. They come in a big container size that has about 40 wipes in them, and a smaller container that has about 8 wipes. They are somewhat expensive (40 wipes for $13), but the sunscreen is very, very good. It doesn't sting your eyes, and it isn't greasy or heavy. For the first day of vacation, we use the wipes exclusively. Once we are settled at the hotel, I use bottled sunscreen on everybody before we head out, then use the wipes to take out with us to keep reapplying.

You can search for Supergoop on Amazon to see a description. I can't post links yet as this is the first time I've ventured out of lurkdom here.

There are other brands, too. Hope this helps!

Never heard of these. I have to check these out!

One thing to think about...

I spend a lot of time on the transportation boards where this comes up a lot. There have been reports where if the containers are not marked with the amount they hold (so, some of the small plastic ones you can buy at Target and fill), people HAVE been made to dispose of them. So, either buy ones that have the amount already on them or use original packaging. You can also not take partially filled containers if the original amount is over 3.4 oz.

Depending when you are going you may want to send some stuff to your resort. We usually go at the end of August. I send what is left in the large bottle of sunscreen down to the resort ahead of time. I use a lot of conditioner so I sent a bottle of that down too. Usually there is very little or none left at then end of the trip so there is nothing to bring back.
