I booked AKL for the end of Aug thinking that I may switch to free dining if it came out but since it starts after I want to go I am thinking about changing to an Epcot area resort.I had the 35% off that expired in March-can you switch resorts after the promo expired?TIA

Yes, if there is availability at the resort you want to switch to under the promo code you booked. You'll have to call and ask, they only release a certain amount of rooms for each code. You may find that there is no availability under that code for a particular resort or type of room.

Yes, I have switched maybe 2 or 3 or 4 times:rolleyes1 with an expired deal.

As the others have said, yes you can switch resorts if there is availability with the discount at the resort you want to change to :). If a regular reservation CM can't check or make the change, ask to speak to guest services. I have made changes in the past after a promo/pin has expired with no trouble, although once guest services had to do it so I wouldn't lose my discount ;). Good luck :wizard:.

I had several CM's tell me thta I could not switch resorts because the pin was expired. Then I finally got a CM who said I could, and he did not know why I was told I could not. Don't be surprised if you are told No.
I eventually would up at POR then wanted to switch to POFQ and again I was told No. I called several times and was told the pin was expired so I could not switch. I called today and was told No, I asked for a supervisor and the switch to POFQ was made.

We booked FD when it was offered the first time and are currently scheduled for CBR 8/26 - 9/6. In the past we've done the Dxdp but this year the plan was not to upgrade and stick with the ddp. However, my dh is the type that likes everything paid in advance so there's no worries during the vacation and really wants to go back to the Dxdp. The only way that would work for us is if we switch to a value resort and pay for the upgrade to Dxdp.

Would I be able to make that change now with the offer I booked under or would I be required to use the current FD offer and pay the extra for the photo book?

Generally, if there are rooms available under the previous discount at your new resort (there are only a certain number available under any particular promotion), you can keep the deal you have and just change the resort. It's considered a modification which is permitted. You may need to ask Guest Services to do it if the CM you're talking to cannot.

If it's within 45 days, you may have to pay a penalty, though, if the price of your package decreases. If the price of your package increases, they generally waive the change fee.

I am so glad that I am not the only one. We booked last year when FD came out for August. I only thing that has not changed is FD deal. I have changed dates (dropped one day) resorts (started at poly, then yacht, PO riverside, wilderness lodge now back to Yacht. I don't even want to think about how many times I have changes dining ressies. lol :lmao:
Yes, for sure you can change after the offer expires. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info.I keep changing my mind and don't know what I am going to do.We stayed at the Poly last year during the 40% discount and fell in love:love:.This year the discount wasn't as good and the price difference was more than we wanted to pay(last year was supposed to be our last trip for awhile:rolleyes1)but we booked the deal and figured if free dining came out we would do that instead. Then FD didn't come out for the dates we want so now I am torn because this is a trip we weren't even going to take and to pay even more for Poly seems like the wrong choice. But we would rent a car if we stayed anywhere else so that adds a little into it(trying to do the disney math justification!)My dh said to just call and check if I can switch but I am still going back and forth.I know my dd will love the animals at AKL but the room at Poly was great cause she slept on the pull out sofa and dh and me each got our own bed. With ds in a pack and play or crib the extra room at Poly is good.Oh I don't know what to do:scared:

Yes, we've done this twice already just this year. :rolleyes1

First we had the Poly with a 40% off pin, switched it to YC, then finally switched it to POFQ to take advantage of our last trip for awhile as a Disney "family of four". After our little one turns 3, we'll be staying deluxe, so we decided to just stay at POFQ while we have the opportunity.

Didn't have any issues. :thumbsup2

DH tells me I need to take a break from the DIS:lmao: I read all these wonderful trip reports and all the resorts look soo nice:lovestruc....what's a lady to do?:rotfl2:

So I called to change reservation and...... It was no problem at all:cool1:We decided to switch to Yacht club(beach club didn't have any standard rooms available)It is our first stay here.We love Poly though so I can't rule out another switch before Aug! I know my dd will love it there-but I also know all she is going to want to do is go to the pool.

I had a pin code and when I called to change resorts they told me the pin was expired and I couldn't use it anymore. :confused3

The same thing happened with my friend.. she had to change the dates on her trip and they took away her discount because the pin had expired. Should she call back and see if they will give her back the discount?

Call again and ask for Guest Services; they may be able to help. However, it may be that there are no further rooms available under the PIN at the new hotel. If that is the case, there's nothing they can do for you. You can change resorts only if there is still availability under the particular discount involved.

If the dates to which she changed weren't part of the PIN, or there were no rooms available under the PIN, they were correct.

The best she can do is talk to Guest Services. It is unlikely that they will restore the discount, however.

We wanted to change to BC and there were no more rooms available under the discount but YC had availability.I am thinking of changing to Poly now if there is availability:rolleyes1 or doing a split between YC and Poly.
