Can you switch a name on a reservation easily?

I wasn't sure where to post this question...

I'm trying to talk my mom into coming with me to disney on a mother/daughter trip for sept. If she won't, I will still go... but with someone else.

My question is this:

If they offer free dining next month I'm going to go ahead and book the trip. My mom keeps telling me to wait to book.. but I'll go ahead and do it.

*if* I book for she and I.. and she decides she doesn't want to go after a while, is it wasy to switch her name to someone else, if the reservations are made by me?

I think but could be wrong but if you book it when free dining comes out & if one person doesn't show as long as you let Disney know before the 45 day mark you should be ok. When booking ask all they can tell you is no.

my DH and I booked a reservation for some friends with free dining and put me as the Primary. Well, we decided that it would be best to change the names of everyone in each room so they all had the correct people listed in the correct rooms. We were able to do this very easily. Even changed the Primary name on one of the reservations. If you explain your situation to the CM you speak with you should be able to change the names very easily.

If you aren't changing the primary name it is very easy to change the names on the ressie. They can and have changed the primary name but that took a little more doing and the original CRO CM that I was on the phone with had to put me on hold and have someone else do it.
