I want to surprise my husband for christmas with a trip to a carribean island for just the 2 of us. I know that christmas was just here 2 months ago but I really need to start saving now because being a SAHM he may notice a couple thousand dollars missing from the bank account. But he won't miss $50-60 a week for the next 10 months. So let me hear it... I am looking for something all inclusive for President's day weekend next year. I have never been to any island before so I guess I have nothing to compare. Any info would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Gilligans!!

Where else can you be with
A Millionaire and his wife
A Professor
An Actress
A Farm Girl

Actually, Bahamas are ok. Aruba is fantastic.

I never got a reply for your address to send the CD's to. Do you still want them?

Cancun
Belize
Costa Rica
St. Croix
St. Thomas
St. John
St. Maarten

They are all beautiful! The cheapest is probably Cancun or Costa Rica. We loved them both!

I wouldn't ever consider going to Jamaica (but that's just me) as we did NOT feel safe there ever!

I love Aruba, the weather is always nice. I did love Atlantis in Paradise Island, but I'm not sure how the weather would be in Feb.

Jamiaca, most definitely. If you are lloking for a romantic all inclusive, Couples Ocho Rios or Couples Negril are exceptional. Mandy and I go to Couples OR every other year and plan to return there in January for our 10th wedding aniversary. Many people also speak highly of Sandels, but they tend to be more expensive.

If you do consider jamaica, I would look into either Negril or Ocho Rios. While Montego bay is OK, I think OR and Negril are a bit better. Negril has the nightlife, Calm, blue water and beatiful sunsets. Ocho Rios resorts tend to have provate beaches (not true of Negril), and a more quite, layed back atmosphere.

Many people beleive Jamaica is unsafe, but, with the exception of Kingston, this has not been an issue for a very long time. The crime problem for tourists is actually much higher on other supposed safe Islands like St Maarten, yet Jamaica continues to suffer a bad rep. The Jamaican people are wonderful and the island is very safe. We have absolutely no worries what so ever about leaving our resort while we are there.

Find a weekend charter company from your area or the nearest international airport and choose from their offerings. Cancun is usually offered and fun. Bahamas is another but Feb could be dicey with temperature there. I prefer the Virgin Islands-U.S. or British but there are few charters and connecting flights take so much time out of a long weekend. You might be able to find a good charter to the Dominican Republic too.
Happy Hunting. Call a travel agent now and ask what the prices were for this year. Ask them to put you on their mailing list.

A fantastic All Inclusive we've been to is is the Occidental Grand, Cozumel Mexico. Absolutely beautiful, especially at sunset!

I recently went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. There are some nice all inclusives there. It was beautiful, warm and cheaper than some of the islands previously mentioned!

For an adults only (no children under 17 are allowed), all inclusive, I would highly recommend the Galley Bay Resort in Antigua. It is absolutely beautiful. :wave2:

My DH and I went to Peter Island in the British Virgin Islands and can't say enough good things about it. It is a resort on it's own island, there is nothing else on the island but the Peter Island resort. The beaches were fantastic and the food was out of this world, we basically had the island to ourselves since there are only about 40 guest rooms or so. Have fun wherever you go.

I also would agree with Shortbun's suggestion that you research your flight options first, and make a decision on destination based on the ease of getting there. If it's only a long weekend, you'll want to maximize your time at a resort and not spend an inordinate amount of time traveling, and that can easily happen to some of the destinations in the Carribean.

I love the eastern end of Puerto Rico, lots of very nice resorts/hotels. An all inclusive I recently stayed at is Paradisus. They have caves and rain forests, great shopping and lots of terrific restaurants.

I also love Jamaica, Sandals properties are incredible. The island is beautiful but one does have to be careful when sight seeing. Not unlike many areas.

Aruba is nice always great weather but not lots of sight seeing if thats your thing.

I didnt like Cancun at all, it lacked the Mexican feel and we likened it to Miami.
So many choices!! Have fun picking one.:)

The Peter Island resort looks fabulous and it's on my list of places to go "someday". We're going back to the Virgin Islands (Virgin Gorda) this summer, but it's a family trip, so Peter Island wasn't really the right option. But no complaints from me, I'm just happy to be going back anywhere!!

Thank you everyone for your responses!!! I called AAA Travel Agent today and she is sending me all sorts of info on different islands. We will be flying from Philly so I don't think the flights should be any longer then 3 hrs to most places. But I could be wrong, it has been known to happen from time to time. Thanks again and keep them coming.

Just a word of advice, I have found that our AAA agent consistently had the highest prices for Carriabean Travel (ours wanted $1200 more for our last trip to Jamaica than the price we got over the net!). Be sure to shop around on the net before you buy.

I agree with WDWHound, check out Expedia.com I have found them to have better prices for packages than if I had booked everything seperately.

Thanks for the heads up on AAA. I would just rather look through a brochure than search the web. When I choose an island I will definatly shop around for prices. I am a bargain shopper. Have you guys ever used BJ's Vacations? They seem to have great deals too. Thanks again.

One place that hasn't been mentioned is Grand Cayman - not sure if there is an all-inclusive there but it was the nicest place we saw on our honeymoon and I'd go back in an instant. Mr OB is on her honeumoon in St Lucia right now, it sounded beautiful as well.

Ditto on Aruba. Nice place.

Jamaica - ugh. My DW grew up there and she will NEVER go back.
