Maybe it is me, and I am too nice. Too much into customer service, but IMO, if a buyer pays for an auction IMMEDIATELY, then I think a seller should extend the courtesy, and ship the item quickly. I'm not saying they should run out 10 minutes after getting payment, but they should ship it much sooner than a week later.

My Ds has been DYING for Rayman 3 on gamecube, he used to own it, and then traded it in to GameStop. he has regretted it ever since. So he started looking around Ebay. He found a few, and asked if I could bid on one if he gave me the money.

The auction I won ended Wednesday afternoon. It was morning where the seller was. I piad within minutes of the auction end. And we started our wait. Monday, DS was getting frustrated, because he kept expecting to find it in the mailbox, and it was not there. On Tuesday, I told him to send the seller a question, and ask if has shipped it yet. The reply I got was that if I had read the shipping details in the auction, I would see that it would be shipped within 3-4 business days of receiving payment. He shipped that day. (business day 4, of course). He gave me the tracking number.

OK, so I go and take another look at the auction details, and it says 2-3 business days, NOT 3-4. So he shipped it a day past his own deadline, and IMO, he should of shipped it before the weekend. But. that's just me.

I check the tracking number this morning, and it says the item was delivered to CA yesterday! So, he gave me the wrong tracking number.

Some people will say that there are sellers out there who can't get to the PO on a daily basis. That is fine by me, But, my opinion is, if you want to be a seller on Ebay, then you should figure out how to get to the PO at least a few times a week. What does BUSINESS days have to do wth Ebay? There are not too many people selling out of their office. Since the PO is open for businees on Saturdays, it should be included as a business day.

OK, rant over. I am just so frustrated for my son right now.

FYI - my Post Office is not open on Saturdays.

If the seller states what his policies are in the listing, they that is what you should expect. If you don't like it, don't bid. If they don't have it listed, you should ask before you bid.

However, it appears that this seller violated his own policy by not shipping 2-3 business days after payment. You should be compensated for that.

I agree with you. IF they are going to run it as a business, then run it as a business! If it says 2-3 days then ship it in such, no later. I can understand not wanting to go to the PO everyday.

You know if every person who was told if you don't like it don't bid did as they were told Ebay would flounder and so would the sellers! Snotty sellers don't help. Dealing with the public is part of the package when people decide to sell on Ebay.

OK, add up the actual damages for being one day late and then triple the amount. The refund will still be ZERO. Should the OP get a lawyer too? Maybe even join a "missed the shipping by one day" support group.

It sounds to me like a good life lesson for the youngster. Make sure you realy do not want the items you sell.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told (on the ebay message boards) that sellers have 30 days to send the item. It doesn't matter what they say in their auction.

If I were you, I would leave feedback along the lines of "good product, slow to ship" assumming of course you're satisfied with the game once you receive it.

As a seller, I totally agree with you.

Most people pay instantly with Paypal. I can't justify taking my grand ole time getting the item in the mail. If I cannot ship it within 24 hours of payment received, I email the buyer and let them know why and when I will be shipping.

(but, as far as compensation...LOL, that cracked me up)

You can do what is within your power and that is to leave appropriate feedback (to warn others) and not buy anything else they have to offer.

The seller may have shipped it just like he said. He stated 2-3 business days, and if he shipped it on Monday (if his post office isn't open on Saturdays) then he was within that time frame.

When I sell on ebay, I don't usually count the day I receive payment since often times I receive it just before the post office closes or in the evenings. Sure it takes seconds to send your payment electronically, but it takes an average of 45 minutes or longer for me to drive to the post office, package the item, stand in line and ship it. I try my best to get it out as soon as possible. I've had people badger me with complaints if they don't receive it on Thursday when they paid me on Monday!

It's ebay. I think in the future if you want something right away, the best thing to do is go pay full price for it at the store!

I'm clearing my house of crap sellng on ebay! We have tons of stuff that was barely or never used - lots of it still in its original package.

I love ebay. :) :) :)

As a seller...
You should put your ebay name in your signature. Other people do it, so I think you're allowed to.

...and I think you should pm your fellow DISers when you have cute 24 month or 2T stuff for girls. Stuff without stains that doesn't make the baby look like hooker.

I'm just sayin'. :rolleyes1

I agree that sellers should ship promptly, however I never get my hopes up. Things happen.

I won a pair of shoes on Sunday. Paid for them immediately. And paid for expedited shipping. I was hoping to wear them for a function on Saturday. I figured, with the expedited shipping, even if the seller waited until Wednesday to ship, I stood a fair chance of getting them.

I finally got a happy e-mail from the seller on Tuesday thanking me for my prompt payment. She went on to explain that she couldn't get off work to ship that day, maybe Wednesday. I finally got an e-mail that she had printed the shipping label off paypal yesterday (Thursday).

The expedited shipping only works if the item is actually at the shippers :rotfl2:

So, while I would have really liked them for Saturday, I plan on things happening. I figure many (not all) Ebay sellers are like me, this is not their primary business, but regular people with very busy lives. So, if work gets in the way or a toddler is sick, I just don't stress about it. I may be annoyed, but if that is the worst thing that happens to me this week, I will be grateful!

Although, if the shoes really are NIB Manolos, they will get positive feedback, but with the caveat that they were slow to ship when buyer paid for expedited shipping. And no, it is not worth my time or blood pressure to try to get the few extra dollars back for the shipping.
