Tentatively planning a trip 2 years out and trying to figure out the best way to do things while saving as much as we can.

1.) Historically Disney Visa holders have gotten a discount in August. They have also offered free dining for cardholders in August. Are these stack-able, or is it "free dining with a full-price resort stay"? Basically, is it pick one or the other, but you can't have both type of things?

2.) Do reservations for the August promo fill up super fast typically? Is it like a bunch of their other offers where they show it and advertise it as AVAILABLE despite it being sold out in the first 2 hours?

3.) Can you make a reservation EARLY (like....months before the promo starts) and then call disney and modify it for the discount if/when they release it? Or would that be a cancel/rebook situation where you are limited by the availability (as in question 2).

1) Dsicounts are not stackable.
2) August is not typically a high-demand season but any discount will disappear quickly due to limited availability. The earlier that you jump on a discount, the better your chances of getting what you want.
3) Booking ahead of time only guarantees you a room for the dates you reserved at the price you reserved it at. It does not give you an edge over others who want to book under a discount offer for the same room and dates you want. They are a different inventory of rooms.

exclusive FD dates this year for Dis Visa holders was August 2-19. problem with booking in advance and then calling to change to the discount is that you could be on hold for hours; phone lines go nuts a 7AM EDT when FD drops. I think the link to book with the DVisa dates was posted on line, but not right away when FD dropped (4:30-5:30AM).

There is always an FD "waiting" thread over here well before FD drops, watch for it and follow to get the most up to date info. https://www.disboards.com/forums/disney-dining-plan.116/
