We're planning a trip next year with our three DS and we are hoping to have my 17-year-old niece with us as an extra adult for man-to-man coverage of the boys, as well as a sitter for a couple of nights. My three guys are young (8, 6 & 4) and will all sleep in one queen-size bed -- that's what they do at home! I was thinking that we could easily squeeze into a five-person room, but didn't know what would happen if we get caught. :confused3 We just can't afford the suites that sleep six!

Anyone care to share any experience with this? Thanks!

Let's put it this way..

If you get caught.. you may simply be asked to leave Disney property ... for violating fire code occupancy limits which are as much for your safety as anything. In the unlikely event of a fire, there would be an incomplete record of the guests in your room. Someone COULD be left behind.

Add to that.. there are a number of choices for six guests... including Fort Wilderness Family Cabins. www.wdwinfo.com has a lot of info on all the choices.

Sorry... this is a VERY hot topic issue on these boards and the DIS does not facilitate discussions about circumventing Disney policies or Florida state law.

I can't leave this thread open.

Thanks,

Knox

Since you mentioned queen beds in rooms that sleep 5, I assume you're considering the deluxes like GF, Poly, CR, YC/BC or BWI.

If that's the case, then there are options that legally sleep 6 and will give you much more room, and are considerably cheaper that a room at one of those resorts. For example, the cheapest room at Poly runs about $355/night, but a family suite at ASMu is $184/night in value season. A cabin at FW is $265. Two rooms at a moderate resort would probably be in the same ballpark as the deluxe room.

Since you asked, leaving someone off the reservation can prove problematic in a number of ways. If you'd planned to use EMH, one person in your party will not be able to join you, since they won't have a resort ID. If you'd planned to use DME, again, one person will have to find some other (non-free) transportation to WDW, since they won't have a voucher for the bus.

Depending on the resort, you may have problems at the pool. For example, YC/BC checks resort IDs before allowing guests into the pool area.
