Can you sleep on the AKL balcony????

I say, it sounds like a great adventure. Butter them in bug repellent and give them another great memory.

My kids will sleep anywhere they can. One night my daughter and her best friend slept in clothes baskets. They were 6 or 7. They are 14 now and still laugh about it. Wierd, I know, but you only get to be a kid once.

It was on the Disboards about a year ago...someone was talking about the ENORMOUS spider they saw on someones balcony, AND they took a picture of it....it was HUGE!!!!! I dont believe they are poisonous and I am sure there are not a lot of them, but after seeing that, I would be careful. Just throwing that out there.

We had some "neighbors" at the Swan who were UH-UM "being very friendly" on their balcony one night. I wouldn't leave my kids out there all night. JMHO

There is no way I would want to sleep out there, but for the kids, it isn't much different then sleeping in a tent in the back yard I guess. We will see when we get there if they really want to sleep out there or not. If we were driving and had trunk room I would consider bringing sleeping bags and an air mattress, but there is NO WAY I will haul that on an airplane!

I agree with Dreamflight. Many very serious diseases are carried by mosquitoes and June is peak season.

Also due to the cameras I would not be surprised if you did not get a call from the Front desk/Security wanting to know why your children were not in the room.

Also noises from the balconies travel to other rooms. Can they truely sleep out there all night and not be noisey. Your neighbors will be asleep.

Believe me by the time you deal with the high heat and humidity of Florida in June they will love being in a nice cool room at night to sleep. Nights in Florida are cooler than the daytime temps, but still hot and very humid.

I agree that West Nile Virus should be a consideration.I have received warning fliers from WDW about WNV twice during visits.It seems to be a real concern in that area.

My kids saw the pictures of the balcony and they immediatly asked if they could sleep out there? I hadn't thought about that, but could you? I know they have cameras everywhere, but our kids will be 12, 10, 10 and won't care. My only thought is that the bugs might be bad the first week in June. Personally, I wouldn't want to do that, but they would.

Personally I would be scared out of my wits wondering about all the insects (flying and crawling) on me while I'm asleep.

sure, let 'em sleep on the balcony. Just leave the sliding door unlocked so when they get sweaty, hot and bug-eaten then can come back inside.

Along with the very serious threat of WEST NILE VIRUS, these are fabulous points, Sammie! I completely forgot how easily the "sound" travels from the balconies (as we can hear our neighbors from inside the rooms...when they are out on the balcony). Kids outside together on a dark balcony, would be laughing and talking into the night (at least most of the ones I've known). Security cameras are also a consideration (I would be embarrassed beyond belief, to be contacted about WHY my children are sleeping on the balcony?!), along with the high humidity factor. I wonder if there is not some type of "code" violation, *(to prevent sleeping on this area), which Disney could enforce if necessary. I would not be surprised, knowing the diligence of Disney.
