Can you ship a package to a resort?

This is going to sound silly :earboy2: Our family is going to AKL 11/29 - 12/6, but DW & kids (& me) cannot sleep w/o a fan on ( box fan, for the noise - ceiling fans don't work). Many people have posted that they get a towncar & stop on the way & buy a cheap one, but, I was thinking that a cheaper way may be to ship one to the AKL & ask them to hold it for me until I get there (can then take Dis bus from airport to save $). I've seen posts talking about shipping some food items to resorts, just was wondering how to maybe do this - any advice?

Most resorts will hold a package that has your name and dates you will be staying there.

Call the resort first. Some people have said the convention resorts (CS, Dolphin, Swan, and Hilton) may want to charge you, as they are used to charging businesses to receive packages of materials used for conventions.

Call the resort and ask if there is a charge. If they say no, get the name of the person you talked to, and how they want the package labled.

Ok, I have a silly question too: Would it be insane to ship a carton of bottled water to the resort???
I think because it is so heavy, I might actually be better off buying water bottles there!!! Ugh!!!
I don't think Disney's Magical Express would make a grocery store stop. :(

If you are using the Magical Express ( w/ no grocery stop) but want a case of bottled water, I would look into the netgrocery services in the resort area. Having local delivery of the water may be cheaper in the long run than shipping from home or $2.50 a pop in the parks. :cool1:

i'm staying at the poly and got my box today, inside i filled it w/styrofoam cooler,(instead of refrig.) and inside the cooler, styrofoam plates, styrofoam bowls, cheap plastic knives, forks, extra band-aids,a little first aid pack from wal-mart,wet naps, extra plastic bags for wet clothes, and a plastic ziplock full of coffee, tea, sugar packets, salt & pepper, jar of pb&j,napkins and cheap dishrags i bought at $ store, moleskin, bug and sunscreen lotion, and a travel coffee maker.I think i'm gonna throw in some cheap (lite) flip-flops for the pool. We hope to send all for just a couple bucks.I called the poly got the direct address and they said fine, send it 2 express day it's cheaper and put arrival date, and our name. we also did this at ak and no problem

Have you ever considered a small white noise box? I wonder if it would have an option of a fan sound.

We do it all the time....we ship down a box of baby stuff....diapers, wipes, sheets, etc. It saves us so much lugging.....We rent a car so I can't help with the H2O problem. It is so much cheaper to bring the water than to buy it in the parks.....

If you rent a car, wouldn't it be more cost effective just to stop at a grocery store en route to WDW from the airport? You still have to lug the package to the post office or ups, package it up and then retrieve it. I just don't understand the need to ship anything to Florida for a vacation. It's not a criticism. I am just can't understand how it is worth all of the trouble.

Yup it would except we have a baby and a special needs child. The 16 year olds diapers are special order and you can guess how big and how much space they take up. They are quite light though so we ship them along with his "floaty bathing suit" and some crib sheets(for baby) along with a few other things he needs but we can't buy in a store (rubber gloves, plastic tubing etc). We also send down a few of his favorite videos . It helps make bedtime easier in a strange place. We end up mailing a box, renting a car and making a stop at the grocery store!!! We are busy. :) I always ship the box and then call ahead to make sure it got there. We use up the diapers, wipes, gloves , tubing etc and usually have plenty of room to take the other stuff we shipped home with us. :)

Thanks so much for the posts - I think I'll just ship a small fan & throw-away stuff (sun lotion, cheap flip-flops, etc.); the less luggage the better. I can't wait (my first trip to WDW since '90 & first stay onsite since '76; wife's first visit since '88 & kids have never visited - DD/12 & DS/8)!!!!

It would cost you a lot more in shipping to send down bottled water than to buy it down there.
