Hi,

Now that our hotel ressies are made I am attempting to do and itinerary for our upcoming trip in January. It is just me and my husband going and it is my first time (my husband went once almost 15 years ago). We do have a couple of commitments already as we are doing the WDW Marathon on Sunday, January 8th.

We are staying our first 4 nights at WL and our last 4 nights at AKL. Our last two nights at AKL will be Concierge Level in order to do the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris. Otherwise, we seem like we have a good amount of time to see and do most activities and have a few good meals. I think the waterparks are closed in January so we have even more time to see WDW.

We arrive late on Wednesday, January 4th and will not see or do anything our first night as we will be tired from the long flight from England. We need to head to the airport at about 3:30 pm on our last day in Orlando.

Do any of you have plan of attack that can give me some sort of outline to start planning our visit to the parks? I am not being lazy, just have no idea where to start :confused3 . Thanks so much!

tonya, you may want to consider signing up for www.tourguidemike.com as his site gives some great itinerary planning/touring advice... while they don't do a personalized itinerary (i.e. monday go to AK; tuesday MGM, etc) they do offer suggested best and worst days for different parks and WHY! (which is big to me! LOL! i wanna know WHY!)

good luck! and ENJOY! :flower:

Here is a sample of my basic ITINERARY.

I then incorporated that into an Excel Spreadsheet/Workbook that others here had put together, tweaked it, added to it, etc. It is still a work in progress and I welcome any input, additional etc.

You can download it HERE

Others have used TourGuide Mike's website, or the Unofficial Guide to plan their days out. I had already planned things out for my September trip before hearing about TGM, but may try that for our trip in April.

I planned out our trip based off of the meal plan this time, so I figured out which restaurants we wanted to eat at, and planned our days around that. I planned certain restaurants around EMH's and other things such as Wishes or Spectromagic. I tried to keep things simple as far as parks....not to much park hopping.....it just slows things down and makes it more difficult to enjoy the trip, IMO. I would rather spend the day at a park and eat lunch and dinner there.

Some people like to park hop, seeing 3 parks in a day.....just depends on what you like to do.

Unfortunately, Disney doesn't release hours and schedules until about 2 months before so it is more difficult to plan around those, but there are some educated guesses you can make based off of previous months, and you can always change once the hours are officially released.

The one good thing for you is that January is one of their slower months, so crowds will be lower, Dining reservations will be easier to get, and you can be a bit more flexible in your itinerary planning as time gets closer.
