My wife and two daughters (4 & 2) are going this summer and just wanted to confirm. Do table service restaurants allow adults to share a meal. Obviously none of the buffets or character meals allow this but what about whispering canyon, coral reef, or those types of places? My wife and I frequently share meals at home - with portion sizes so big. Is it frowned on? Have you ever been hassled, extra plate charges? I'll add that i always tip over 20% when we do this as I realize the wait staff is somewhat taking a hit on the whole deal, but I just can't afford to waste that much food on this trip. Thoughts?

We've not shared meals but we see people do it all around us all the time. I don't think it would be a problem at all.

We plan on sharing during our next trip as DD will have just turned 9 and now be charged as an adult. There is no way she could eat an adult entree all by herself so she will probably share with DH and I. Of course we can't do this at the buffets but we don't do many of those anyway.

Have a great trip! Share all you want! :)

Generally at WDW sharing is not a problem. If you mention it when odering, they will generally actually do the splitting in the kitchen (and the "half portions" might actually be more than half).

I would not mention the tipping in advance; that is tacky and a bribe. I have never heard of any problems.

Of course this does not apply to any buffet or other all-you-can-eat situation.

We love to share meals with our twin DDs. That way we have room to share desserts also! If we tried to all eat a full meal, we would never have room left to try the goodies! Sometimes we can even try appetizers.

We are planning to share on our next trip. I really like having a variety of foods at our meal and the only way we can do this is by sharing (otherwise we would waste a lot of food and/or consume way too many calories! :sunny: ).

DH and I shared an entree at Spoodles last summer - the steak. We wanted an appetizer and knew we could not both eat an entree too. We included the shrimp add-on to the steak and had a very nice meal for two. We were given 2 plates but divided what we wanted ourselves, and the server couldn't have been nicer about it.

We also got a pitcher of sangria and when we couldn't finish it with dinner she gave us the remainder in plastic cups. We enjoyed the rest while strolling the Boardwalk.

DD and I split entrees at Jiko and LeCellier. Servers were very nice about it. At Jiko they did not give us an extra plate; at LeCellier they did. We tipped extra at both places since service was great and had we each ordered entrees the bill would have obviously been higher.

I very often order 2 appetizers, as some of the meals are big, and have never had a problem with that. They really try to accomodate in any way they can.

We shared on our last trip and didn't have any problems. We just told the server when we ordered and it was fine.

Your the one who's paying so you can order as little or as much as you want. DH and I often share meals.

We order 2 appetizers, 2 salad or soups, one meal and 2 desserts.

Thanks all for the advice, good to know it will be ok to share. We are actually going to do the dining plan for the first 4 days of our trip (split ressie) but for the last half of our trip we will likely spit a time or two. Thanks again!

Hello!

We were just at WDW a couple of weeks ago and shared all our meals with NO problems... and it usually came split for us. We split meals at:

California Grill
Palio
Jiko
Beaches & Cream
Kona Cafe

I agree, that it is a great way to sample more and leave room for dessert. My Mom and I both love appetizers, so it was a great way to (literally) fit is all in! ALL the servers were great about it. AND, it conveniently kept costs WAY down too, so that we could splurge!!!!

Brain freeze - or maybe it's just that I don't want to admit she is growing up. She will have just turned 10 when we go so she'll be counted as an adult...but she's still my baby!

Thanks for catching that :)

So that's where I've gone wrong... in my household DH orders all that just for himself. :confused3 Oh yea, and according to him, the salad neutralizes the calories and fat in the appetizers and deserts. People think he has ADD, but nope - it's just the sugar.

We haven't really tried splitting any TS meals but we have regularly split CS meals. In the past, we have also ordered from the kids menu because we didn't want a large lunch... (hrmm... hope I don't get flamed for that one :rotfl2: ).

I think if we split a TS meal we'd likely order appetizers, whereas if we both get an entree, we tend to skip the starters.... though we do still get the dessert to split. :teeth:

I also order off the kids menu all the time when I'm not very hungry. No reason to be flamed!
