6 years ago my wife and I both had gastric bypass surgery. Now, we physically cannot eat a single portion alone.

When we're at home it's no problem to get a to-go box, but when we're on vacation, the logistics of getting the food in a refrigerator can be a real hassle in the middle of the day. I hate the thought of wasting all that food; and even more, I hate the thought of wasting the money on an entree that we're not going to eat.

So, is it acceptable to share a single entree at a table service restaurant?

Absolutely we do it all the time! I share with my husband, my daughter and sometimes I will just get an appetizer as an entree. When I share the waitstaff is always accomodating, bring the entree out on two dishes. We have done this for years and it is never a problem.

Enjoy your trip.

I'm wondering the same thing-is it ok if on the dining plan too? my kids usually share a child's portion when we dine out at home so I'd love to do the same on vacation if possible.

The only places it does not work are buffets, special events and shows.

have fun

On our Nov. 2010 trip, DH and I shared a meal (and one Deluxe Dining Plan credit) at Le Cellier, San Angel Inn, and Via Napoli without any problem. On our family trip last March, DD and her friend shared meals frequently, as they wanted to make sure they would still fit into their prom dresses, lol.
