Can you sell Fastpasses?

I was just curious when I saw this thread but I am also very upset. I can't believe that people sell their fastpasses!!! How dare they. Are you that desperate??? If I don't use them I either hold onto them or give them to someone. My boys have even kept them as a souvenier. I've had very nice people offer us their fastpasses since they were leaving the park and weren't going to be returning so we have always done the same back to others. Do I dare ask what their asking price even is??

Maybe it's time to get some undercover guys in there and see what happens when they are offered one for sale.

Personally it would kill some of the magic for me to have people "scapling" fast passses in front of the rides. But that will be up to Disney to put an end to it and I hope they do. I am sorry if some posters think I should chill out. YOu gave your thoughts on that matter and thats all I am doing.

It's fine to give your opinion. I'm not flaming you. I'm just saying that I think some of us are just a "little wee tiny tidbit" too uptight.

I personally think it's being taken out of context. The guy's not planning on wearing a sidewalk sign over his shoulders and yelling out "FP for sale, come and get it". (Just joking)

I think he was just asking a simple question about it. He's not been around here long enough to know others sensitivities, and I think he was wondering about simply, casually going offering a FP for sale on his way out (not standing at rides trying to sell them).

Also, some of us need to realize that he came on here to ask about it before doing it.

It's just flaming like this that makes people come on for a day and then leave.

All Im saying is that this is a simple message board, not a board of trustees.

I just think after reading some of the flame-filled posts, that some people just make themselves look silly by how incredibly offended they get by some things. Then again, I dont understand why some people get offended over things that just make no sense at all.

Are you being serious? I sure hope that was a taste of sarcasm. If not, I hope some of you people are not the ones voting when election time comes around. (Said with a smile) :thumbsup2

(No flaming here) No. Selling them is not allowed. I would suggest giving them to another person, and spread some magic around. :wizard:

Sensibility is golden!

I agree with you completely.

Of course, I was just joking. I have to try to put some laughter in this thread!!!!!:confused3

One of the best "pixie dust" experiences my wife and I have ever had was when Space Mountain had a 2 hour wait and a really nice person walked up and handed us some FPes for the ride so we could just walk on. It really made our morning. Give'm away if you aren't going to use them. Spread the magic.

Exactly! That is what going to Disney is all about!!!!:sunny:

to the OP: YOu are asking the wrong question. The question is: Why would someone want to sell a fastpass (could someone that desperate for money)? Or, if caught or turned in, could be prosecuted for a thin price of greed.

There is a good business reason someone actively selling fastpasses should face quick penalties by Disney CMs-- any profit motive driving the acquiring of FPs could skew the FP distribution. That is, if Disney didn't/doesn't try to make it known that the selling activity is not allowed, they run the risk of having hordes of sellers scarfing up FPs for rides they really don't want to ride, for the sole purpose of selling the FPs later when all the FPs are gone for the day (and, in this scenario, gone because of hordes scarfing them up to sell them later(the profit motive CREATING the scarcity) to make enough for a turkey leg and Mickey Ice cream dinner.

"Hey Mom, Dad, Sis, since you guys are leaving the park, can I get some fast passes with your tickets before you leave... no, no need to give me any money for dinner, Dad, bwahahahahahahahaha!"

As for our opinion:
The two times we had FPs we didn't want to use, we gave them away, once to a frazzled-looking couple and kid in Fantasyland staring at a looong Peter Pan ( I think?) queue, and once to an elderly couple ambling toward Test Track, and both times making those folks happy made us happy.

Just so we're clear, here -- fastpasses do have value. And, Disney itself sells them at Disneyland -- through its AAA enhanced fastpass packages. I've priced the packages and they are very expensive. You must stay at least two nights at a Disneyland hotel to qualify (plus have AAA, of course.)

So, for all of those who say -- fastpasses are free, why should anyone profit from them? Well, Disney and AAA profit from them at Disneyland. And, why do they profit from fastpasses - because they can. It's very simple.

Am I the only one who finds handing off unused fastpasses a little unfair? Don't get me wrong - I love the intent of the person passing on the FP. I love their intent to spread some pixie dust. But seriously, that generosity is at the expense of every other guest standing in line.

If you're guest A, and arrive at Soarin just as the FP's have run out, you'd have to be prepared to stand in line for 90 minutes. Meanwhile, guest B arrives at the park 30 minutes later, and some kind soul hands him a FP. He walks on, leaving you to wait another 30 or 45 minutes. Suppose you were told that your wait could be shortened by 30 minutes if those FP weren't handed off and instead just expired unused? Would you change your opinion of spreading the pixie-dust?

Personally, I'd prefer that everyone rip up their unused FP - passing it along to someone else is giving a very unfair advantage to someone who shouldn't have it in the first place. I would assume that's why "non-transferable" is printed on the back (at least, that's what another poster mentioned - I haven't ever looked myself!) You would still be spreading pixie dust by ripping them up - you've just helped the line-waiters move along quicker by not taking your place in line and not having someone else take it either.

Ok, out out curiosity I dug out my unused Fastpass from RnRC. The ride was down during our ride time and we had planned to return to MGM later that night and never made it back. It is dated 4/9/06 and the return time was 12:05-1:05.

The very last line before the Disney TM and US Patent information reads:

Nontransferable NOT FOR SALE

Yes its in all caps too!
So I suppose that answers the question - apparently we aren't supposed to give them away nor sell them. I never bothered to read the back of the FP and always gave our unused FP's away.

I don't see why handing them off to someone else if I find I can't use my FP makes the wait for anyone else longer.... I am either standing in the line using them or someone else is.... some number of people, same wait time.

During MVMCP last year -we got four FP for Buzz Lightyear, they were for kind of late. DD decided she did not want to wait to ride. As we were leaving the area, I saw a father and son, and asked if they could use them, he was so grateful, as it meant that they would be able to get on the ride, otherwise, they would have missed it for their whole trip.

So yes, whenever possible, I will spread Pixie Dust! Conversely, I won't go get a FP just to give away, and I never would have even thought about SELLING them....

Maybe since I am local, and can go to the parks pretty much whenever our schedules allow, I don't feel so pressured about time, and worried that someone didn't have to "wait" their turn in a case like this. (Not talking about cutting in line ,etc....)

It is not unfair at all. If I'm not using it, someone else is. It doesn't matter who it is.

This has turned out to be a very interesting thread!!! I apologize to the OP because I also was mislead by the first post and didn't think it was a serious question (as you can see in my first post of this thread #11.)

Have fun on your trip and I hope you have lots of Pixie Dust!!!

If I had some left over from a park, I would personally just give them away, but I have purchased some on ebay before because I had one day in the parks, and knew that I would be pressed for time. These were from a local Orlando person who has been enough that they had collected at least 200 "re-entry" or "good for any MK attraction" fast passes that they chose not to use. I thought that it would help me, but I never ended up using them. If I can find them, I'd gladly give them to someone. By the way, you'd be suprised at those that are offered on ebay from time to time. Here's a current example:

I see the point your trying to make, but let's say the situation was the other way around. If someone had offered you a Fast Pass for Soarin & the stand by wait was 90 minutes & others who just went into the stand by line were not so lucky to have a guest hand them a Fast Pass they were not going to use. Would you tell them no thanks because it should go to someone who just got in the stand by line & not me because I just got here? If it were me I would say sure I would take it & say it was just luck that I got it.
