Can you see the Castle from Poly?

I got the photos. Thanks. Yes there is only the very top you can see from that photo. BCV23 had a good point about when these were taken. When were they taken? It might be that it still is like that but maybe there is a better view now since they did do some trimming on the island.

I will try an get these photos up tonight. It will be helpful information. I am sure other will feel the same as freediver but I know many just want to be able to see the fireworks and even a little of the castle. The photos will help them decide if they like it or not. I know the far end of Tahiti (east) on the ground floor use to have much of the castle blocked from the trees on the other island but they also trimmed those back and you can see about half the castle now.

Thanks for the photos freediver. When I post them I will send a link so you can show them here.

Aloha

Steve

I'm thinking this trip was September 2003, but I'm not totally sure on that. It wasn't any earlier than that, but it could have been up to spring 2004. I'm trying to think of some way I could find out for sure, but not sure how. Well at least I've narrowed it down to about 9 months there that it could have been.

Maybe someone who is going soon could go around the building and scope it out for us to see it the view has changed.

I personally LOVE the Poly and just returned on Saturday from a great trip. I prefer to stay there, BUT if it is a castle view you want, the view from the Cont. Tower is the closest. It is sort of from the side but sooo close. You can see tons from there.

The MK view is never guaranteed.

I will be staying at the poly for the first time next year for the marathon. :cool1: I am really looking forward to this. I've heard such great things about it all of these years. It is going to be awesome! We booked Garden View Concierge, but may see about upgradeing to LVC at check in. It all depends on if I can scrounge up enough spare change between now and then!!! :earsboy:

Thanks for the room numbers guys!!!

I wouldn't count on upgrading at check-in that weekend, you'll probably be dealing with 100% occupancy rates as teh marathon is being run over two days in 2006.

I loved my Tahiti Lagoon view - I think 2017. It was an amazing view of the castle and it was like we had a private beach. I would stay at the Poly in a garden view though, if that was my only option!

As of January 1, 2006, it can be reserved as a guaranteed view at the Contemporary. It's $80 more than a regular tower room. I thought I would mention it for those that are interested.

Interesting! Thanks for the info!

Here's a picture of our view from 1994!! On the back of the pic I had written room # 1037, but not the name of the bldg. I was such a Disney Newbie I probably didn't even know the bldgs had names!! :confused3 (BTW . . . $260 per night for a lagoon view at the Poly June, 1994!!) ;)
The pics are scanned, so they're a little grainy!!

I thought I had read something to that effect before and its interesting to see it again. I have never wanted to stay at the Contemporary because I didn't want to chance the view.

Good to know.

And my husband and I are the opposite. If we ever do stay at the CR,we would prefer the Bay Lake View. In fact the North wing facing Bay Lake appears to have such a relaxing view.

If anyone wants to see, Tikiman said I could post this link to the picture of the view I had from room 1413 in Tuvalu, to kinda prove what I was saying.

I can completely understand why you didn't think of this as a castle view. :sunny: I wouldn't either. But still it is a wonderful picture that makes me want to be at the Polynesian right now! Thank you for sharing it. :wizard:

I'm not a Contemporary historian, hehe, but I had heard that the Contemporary resort originally considered the Bay Lake side as the "preferred" view of the tower, since the Magic Kingdom side has the parking lot and road and everything along with the Magic Kingdom off to the right. I think I would probably want to experience both to see which I liked better. I wonder if the Contemporary would agree to split a stay between two rooms to experience both sides?

It is in 2006. They have a new room category. Tower Magic Kingdom view. You want MK - you have to pay for it now. :)

ETA: I responded when I read the post and didn't finish the thread. Didn't realize this had been addressed already. :teeth:
