Can you see fireworks from Carthay Circle?

I’m going with a friend who is very covid cautious and we have discussed and decided that she needs to opt out of the normal fireworks viewing due to the crush of people as she will be to anxious to enjoy the fireworks.

After we talked about it, it occurred to me that we have a Carthay Circle reservation at 8pm. Are they seating anyone on the outside upstairs balcony area right now? And if so, could we potentially see any of the fireworks from this location? We are both OK with skipping the fireworks entirely, but if it works out it would be fun to get a glimpse durig our late dinner.

I just had dinner up there, they couldn’t guarantee it and when I asked earlier in the day they said “if they’re using it we can try to get you out there” which makes me think some nights they don’t use it? Slow nights or short staffed nights?

Either way I’m not entirely sure how much you would see honestly… I adjusted my dinner this coming Saturday to be done right before them and was just going to see if I could watch them in the esplanade since my guest won’t have a park ticket that day (just doing Napa Rose Chefs Counter with me).

That is interesting. It is worth the ask I think since we already have the reservation and we are planning on skipping fireworks anyway.

You can see some of the fireworks from Buena Vista Street, so I would guess that you might see a few bursts from the Carthay upstairs outside seating area if you're on the side the looks straight down Buena Vista Street.

Sorry I have no idea about seeing from Carthay..

But I have seen some posts of people watching from Galaxy's Edge. It looked like it was a little quieter over there. I think that is what we are going to try. I am also not comfy being stuck in the middle of the crowd on main street like I was pre covid.

You get a decent view of fireworks from the balcony at Catal in DTD, if that's a dining option for you.

You can see them great from the roof of the Mickey and Friends parking structure. You also get a jump on the traffic leaving afterwards.

Now that Fantasmic is currently not available, my plan is go to the railings at Rivers of America. They used to use the Fantasmic fountains to show the fireworks animations and the played the soundtrack through the Fantasmic sound system and the fireworks were visible from the Fantasmic viewing areas.

It wont be the same without the animations and soundtrack but you will the fireworks in a less crowded place than Mainstreet and the Hub.

We watched the fireworks from over by the Rivers of America on our last trip. It was definitely less crowded. They did not use the mist screens for the projections, but they did still pipe in the music.

Galaxy's Edge was also a cool place to view the fireworks, but there do not pipe in the music. Anywhere in the area of the Millennium Falcon is popular, but the overlook (near Docking Bay) offers some of the best views. I've already read that you can get a pretty good view from over near Rise, but I haven't been over there yet.

thanks for that, good to know they still pipe in the music even though the Fantasmic fountains are not in use

Thank you all for the great tips! When we checked in for our Carthay Circle reservation we asked about sitting on the balcony and the hostess wasn’t sure if they were doing it tonight due to it being cold and they didn’t have any heaters out there but that she would check. We lucked out and they seated us on the balcony where we had an excellent meal, fantastic service and great drinks. He even sprinkled a little pixie dust with a free extra glass of wine on the house for each of us. Just as our server brought the check the fireworks started. He encouraged us to stay, finish our drinks and enjoy the show. It was perfect!
