Can you say "uh-oh"?

One of the most fun adventures you will ever have in your life is to ------Grab a samll cooler fill it with your favorite beverage. Next sit up a line of folding chairs, the more the merrier, along the side of your favorite boat launch. (The more crowded the better). The next 2 -3 hours will be some of the funniest sights you will ever see. You will laugh so hard -- there are some hand motions the ppl use when they are guideing someone that is backing up a boat trailer. Some one should make a hand guide for all the moves you will see. Trust me -- this would be a good one for candid camera.

Oh, I back up a 36 ft motor home. No guide-- busy road-- small area to back into-- my motto "I am big enough for them to see me -- so I do not worry once I start backing in --- they can wait.

Oh, I did have a lady start honking her horn at me at a gas station in Dallas a few years back --- I pull a van using a quick connect and as such you can not back up using that kinda system. I needed to unhook the van and pull the van over then back the motor home up to be able to make a tight--- a very tight corner. Well I thought that lady might do a better job of getting things done, as she honked her horn steadily, so I got out of motorhome and handed her my keys---. She said " Oh I am sorry take your time ".
(Husband is wheelchair bound so is unable to help in situations like that).

I have the same kind of problem at my current home. I have to back in an S motion and put the corner of the TT just under the gutter of the detached garage to get into the backyard.

No worries, were building a new house on serveral acres and I'm gonna have a 20 x 40 covered shed to park the TT in so if I can't back it straight into that I'll just quit!

Congrats on your new TT...When is your first trip?

Been there, done that. Our first camper was a popup. It wasn't until we were on our way home with it that I asked dh if he knew how to back it up. He said, "I'm sure it's no different than backing up w/o one." Well, I told him that I remember my dad doing it and it did not look the same. So, we went to a vacant parking lot and he tried. It was too funny. "the stupid thing goes the opposite I want it to!!!" So, we just sat there in that parking lot laughing for a little while. We were crying we were laughing so hard at the thought that we had just bought a camper and now had no idea where we were going to put it because neither of us knew how to back it in. So, I remember hearing a neighbor talk about used to owning a boat. So, we give him a holler. After his wife stopped laughing she sent him over. He had it in in 2 seconds flat. Under our narrow carport w/o even thinking about it. Luckily dh and I have a pretty good sense of humor.

Well, now we are in a bigger camper. I think the popup was easier to back up and dh likes backing this one better. I even backed it in at FW by myself with an older gentleman from across the street guiding me. It was so funny with him saying, "good girl, you're doing great, that's my girl, atta girl, great sweetie" I didn't have the heart to tell him that I am about to be a grandma. He even offered to help me hookup, but I assured him that dh had taught me. When I was done (with him watching the whole time) he walked back over and said, "Your husband taught you well you did a great job honey." I felt like I was a little girl again. He was really sweet though. I was glad to know that he was there if I needed him.

Anyone else have any stories about their first time. Come on, we know you have one.

That is too funny. I guess neighbors can be a good thing (when they're not standing there laughing at you),

I hate to drive, i hate even more trying to back up a box....i smashed a box....while it had temp tags might i add..i don't do anything with the BOX...DH says I am box challenged....I SAY I AM SMART...

That's great! I could definitely spend an afternoon watching people trying to launch their boats ~ you're right ~ I'm sure we would have many good chuckles,

Congrats on your new TT...When is your first trip?

Thank you. Our first trip is the weekend before Memorial Day and we can't wait! I've pretty much got it loaded, stocked and ready to go. My kids have been asking if we can spend a night or two in it before we actually take it out anywhere, so we just might do a "dry run" in the back yard.
