Congrats! GF is beautiful! We stayed GF DVC a couple years ago and I couldn't believe just how nice the resort was. I wish we could afford to stay there again but it will not be in the budget for the foreseeable future. Enjoy your time there.

Today at lunch time I noticed a missed call from an unknown number. The person left a message. I listened to the message asking me to call back. It was a cast member from Disney.. When I returned the call, she goes through a series of questions asking if me about my upcoming trip this weekend. WHY did she inform me that I was being UPGRADED to the G R A N D F L O R I D I A N!!! I nearly fell out my chair. I had been smiling all day. I pray that it isn't a horrible prank. I will let you know.

Almost 4 years ago we were booked to stay CBR, about a month before the trip I got an email from Disney "would we like to be upgraded from the CBR to the GF for a total of $200 more for our 5 night trip?" Unfortunately, I said yes. Because once you've stayed Monorail, and the GF, it is so hard to stay anywhere else.....we've now stayed at the GF every year since for a least part of the trip, including 3 weeks from now on our 8 night split stay. Those marketing people are genius!

We were upgraded last summer at Disney's Hilton Head and it was awesome!! I know the kids are secretly hoping it happens again this time and I wouldn't say no...but it would just make it that much harder to not stay Deluxe again probably.

I think I'd be really sad if they told me I was getting upgraded to the GF. It does not look like the kind of place I would want to stay at.

I'm sure they get turned down all the time. It depends what the "upgrade" is and how much the people were looking forward to that particular resort.

There was a thread awhile back where they were trying to upgrade some people from a Business Class room at CSR to a standard room at AKL. IMO that is not an upgrade.

However, I think most people would jump at the chance to be upgraded from a standard Mod room to GF.
