Can you run Everest as a trio?

Group of three of us want to run Everest together. I know you can only officially register as individuals or pairs, but what is different about the pair teams? Can we just sign up as one pair and one individual and run and do the scavenger hunt together unofficially as a trio?

Teams are eligible for team awards basically. Should be no issue with signing up like you described and running unofficially as a trio. My family last year was three pairs all running together unofficially like a team of six.

You can all run together, but the "team" will get 1 set of scavenger hunt clues and the "individual" will get 1 set of clues. On these clues you have points you go to marked by signs, the clues had different sign names, so the "team" & "individual" will go to different signs at the scavenger points. But once you get your next clue you can meet back up to run to the next point & help each other solve it.

Example - Like at Pizzafari there were 5 signs with different names, the team will go to say "Donald" and the individual will go to say "Mickey" or whatever the clue says to give their answer and get the next clue.

The "team" will have 1 bib with the tracking chip, the other team member won't have a tracking chip.

I don't think so. The clue says the sign to go to and they were randomly given out after you finish the 5k, and at each clue station it was random too. There's a lot of people coming and going so it would be hard to ask for the same ones. The actual thing to figure out though was the same I'm pretty sure on each, so you can work together then you just split up to give your answer and next clue.
