If so, is there an area of this resort that better than others? What would be the best location in regards to the pool area?

THANKS!!! :teeth:

but they will not guarantee it. If you want to be near the pool, just tell them that before you check-in and when you check-in. If they can do it, they will.

The Dolphin is great! Enjoy!

The pool is on the West Wing side of the building. The Center Wing wouldn't be bad either. It is a little bit of a walk from the East Wing.

Hello Patty~! :wave2:

As the others posted have informed you, the WEST wing overlooks the pool/MGM, the East overlooks EPCOT and the other resorts surrounding the lake.

I've overlooked the pool, in a Jr. Suite with a balcony (the only one of it's kind in this resort), and enjoyed the nightly fireworks show over MGM/Fantasmic, as well as the pool views. Yet, I still prefer the far east wing and the Epcot views. I LOVE waking in the night, and peeking out the window to take in the vista which includes the illuminated SPACESHIP EARTH. Everything is so very peaceful (yet awaiting the excitement & adventure of the next day!). The WORLD is serene when viewed from your window at 2-3 am. :goodvibes Any location in the Dolphin with a "preferred" view is great! I've stayed in different areas, on different floors--all offering varied views. As long as I can not see the parking lot...I'm THRILLED! :confused3

Hope you have a MAGICAL time at the Dolphin, and make some wonderful memories to last a lifetime. I wanted you to know...the photo in your signature (Of CPL BOBBY KNIGHT USMC--home from Iraq) moved me to tears.
 Take care, and know I appreciate the sacrifice your marine son is making for our country. ;) God Bless you & your family.

Hi dreamflight99

I've never heard of a "preferred view" at the S/D I have heard of standard, lake view, resort view and resort view with balcony. We currently have a "lake view" room booked from May 29th to June 9th for $169.50. Does a lake view room have a nice view? I was really hoping to get a view of Epcot so that we could see the fireworks at night.

Also, we'll have 12000++ SPG points when we travel giving us enough to upgrade to club level for each night (1000 per night).

Can you offer any of your magical advice to get us the best room with the bes t view? I want to make this trip awesome for my DW, DS5 and my new DD1. :)

Thanks
Andy

How does everyone get such rates at the Dolphin? We're paying $249 and that is with a half off coupon from Starwood because of a problem we had with them.

249.00 seems a little high for half off rate im only paying 159.00 per nite for our trip this summer. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi tinkerbelle22!

Have you looked at the AllEars Discount Page? This is how we got our rate for this year. All you do is call the Swan/Dolphin with the Allears rate code and you get the discount (if they have rooms available).

You can also look at going through Dreams Unlimited Travel and get a great rate for the Swan or Dolphin. We used them in 2003 and got club level at the Swan for $179 per night. It was a great rate.

Hope this gets you a much better rate.

Andy

Thanks all - If we like it this time - as I think we will - we will use the code the next time..

I'm paying $159.00 per night through DreamsUnlimitedTravel.com for April 20-23rd, 2005.

Can't wait :teeth:

The location of our room was the only thing I didn't like. We were upgrade to a balcony room. It was an ok room, but it was a looong hike downstairs to catch the boat to MGM or Epcot. If we stay there again I am going to request the first floor and as close to the pool as possible. I do not care about the view.

Hi Andy~Preferred view is a term used by SPG, for any room offering a view other than the parking lot. :confused3 I'm sure you will have a wonderful time, and enjoy your experience at the DOLPHIN! :goodvibes

tinkerbelle22~I believe the rate you have is for a suite, which is a GREAT rate (as the one you have averages about $640 per eve). Therefore, you are paying LESS than half the rack rate! You will be thrilled with your suite, and the Dolphin! :flower:

Thanks to all of you for your help! I just booked the Dolphin through Dreams Unlimited - just a standard room (for $159). We're not planning to spend much time in that room - just a place to lay our weary head, and grab a quick shower. I did request a room in the West Wing, so we'll see how it all turns out come August.

I'm just excited to try something new. It took me awhile - I'm a real lover of Port Orleans Riverside! We've also stayed at the Yacht Club and the Caribbean Beach.

Now I'm off to browse the hints and tips thread! :wave2:

Just wanted you to know that you picked a wonderful place to do both! The beds are wonderful, your weary head will be very happy. The showers are extra special too, you may want more than a quick one. The shower curtains are bowed outward so that you have extra room in the tub and the shower curtain doesn't stick to you. You'll also have the wonderful oatmeal soap that you can't get at Disney resorts.

We loved the Dolphin last year and this August we'll be trying the Swan. Maybe we'll cross paths. :goodvibes

I'm just loving finding all you "new" friends who love the Swan/Dolphin!!

I'm sure I'll be asking lots of question of you over the next few months. My traveling companions will be my best friend and our 21-year old daughters - just a mother/daughter trip. We did this a few years ago, and took our then 10 year olds.

Anyway, she puts me totally in charge of the travel plans because she knows I LOVE it!!!! She just pays half the bill and enjoys the trip. So, if any of you have any fun ideas for me to add to my plan list, please chip in.

Thanks again to ALL of YOU!!! :wave2:
