Can you request a certain room, and any recomendations?

I have passed rofr, and am waiting to close. As soon as I am in the system, I'm going to schedule my first two vacations. The first, I'm going to try for a value studio at AKL for the first week of June (before most kids are out of school) The second week is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I'm going to book my home resort SSR. Can you request a specific room, and based my two trips, can you recomend a room?

If you are trying for AKV value, they do not take any specific requests for room location and it is just luck of the draw when you get there. They do take location requests for other types of rooms.

For SSR (and other resorts) you can make area and possibly room request but you should avoid making a request for a specific room number. That is the least likely request to be met and if they cannot meet it they will just give you a room anywhere which could be nowhere near the one you requested. Better to make an area request and possibly add upper floor or lower floor if that is what you want.

If your home resort is SSR, you will not be able to book first week of June at AKV until November. A value room will be difficult to get at that point.

Welcome home....it will take a few days to close, if everyone returns their documents promptly...then it will take a week or so to get you points into the Disney system. It's already June 23 for reserving at your home resort...if you want the first week of June, hopefully you can make reservations soon. HOWEVER, if AKL is not your home resort...you can't reserve for five more months...and I hear on these boards that value at AKL go pretty early...for your November vaca, ifs it's in 2012 you have to wait until December to book...as SSR is your home resort and you can book 11 months out...lots of stuff to remember. We just recently bought at OKW and those points are in the system, and we closed this week on BCV points...not in the system yet, but then again they are 2011 December UY... ENJOY.

I would never recommend trying for a certain room, very hard to get that, as it would have to be empty when you check in.

Try for something more general and less specific, such as upper floor, or near the pool, or near the elevator, etc.

As stated by others, SSR is your home resort, so you can book there at 11 months out.

Anything else would have to booked no sooner than 7 months out.

Many book their home resort to make sure they have something and then try to change at 7 months.

thanks for all the help. One thing I forgot to mention is that My seller cannot close until November or December. I know I'm taking a chance trying to book certain rooms, but I hope that I may be able to get a nice studio the first week of June. If anyone has any recomendations, please send them to me. The odds are very low for a value studio there are 20 or less of them at AKV.

Values at AKV you cannot request a location. For other requests you are better off asking for a general area as if you request a specific room and it is not available then they will just put you anywhere.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I'll just have a list of different resorts, and see which one will be accepted. I don't care where I end up, they all seem great. I really want my home (ssr) for the week after thanksgiving. I've seen pictures of SSR at Christmas time, and it seems nice. Does anyone know if it is difficult getting a Down town disney view (studio) at the 11 month mark?

According to the CM last time I called MS, they won't take VIEW requests for value villas. However, when I asked her about requests for a particular room #, she said that was OK. So my room request is noted for a specific villa. However, my previous experience with specific room requests says I have a snowball's chance in WDW of getting it-actually, I'll probably get the worst possible room, furthest from my request. That's kinda the way it's gone the 2 times I've requested a specific room #. Oh, well-I've always loved every value villa I've been in, and if the view's not great, I'll just head for the Sunset Lounge. There are so many wonderful nooks and crannys for views. And who know, there's always a chance of getting my room request when I check in September 22 (Yeah, right)

When you book at 11 months, they don't assign you a specific room. At SSR, there are no booking categories, so you will simple be reserving a studio. If you have a specific area that you want to stay, then you would ask to them to add that as a request to the reservation.

When you check in, you can ask again about getting a room that meets your requests and they will do everything they can to grant it. But, requests for specific rooms and locations, unless it is a booking category, is just that and not guaranteed.

The drawback of requesting a specific room is that the room assigners have no idea why you want the room and if it is unavailable, have nothing else to go on in. When you make a more general request, you have a better chance.
