can you recommend an organic skin care line to me?

I have been using Arbonne for a while and LOVE it, but the prices are getting more outrageous each year. I tried Earth Science face moisturizer from Whole Foods, and it feels kinda strange on my face at first, which I find odd. I still have some Arbonne eye cream and night cream, but I think I want to return the Earth Science and try something else.

Also, I have combo skin, but more dry than oily. That's why Arbonne RE9 worked so well for me. Very rich. But too pricey! Even last year's formula for facial moisturizer is going for $45-50 on ebay. I used to be able to get it for about $30.

I need help. Any thoughts?

I love love love Sanitas Skincare. It's made here in Boulder, CO and is all natural. I have really sensitive skin and it has made a world of difference. I find it pretty reasonably priced...I used to use Lancome and it was getting really pricey.

It has just as much of the bad stuff as all the other mainstream brands (it is made by johnson and johnson). They just also add some natural stuff like feverfew or oatmeal so they can say they have natural ingredients. Technically, this is true, but they still have all the bad stuff like parabens and artificial fragrance.

I am not up on organic items but....a diser' owns Alburtis Soap Works and makes soap without chemicals (soap, lipbalm, shampoo bars etc). You may want to check her out, it is reasonable and from what I hear, people love it.

I imagine you can just google the name.

In addition to those, my dermatologist told me to use Vanicream products. I have no idea whether they're organic or not, but they are good for sensitive skin (and he says that everyone's skin becomes more sensitive as we grow older). I think these products are doing me more good than the prescriptions!

The prices are moderate: $9 for a 14-oz bottle of moisturizer, $2.50 for a bar of soap, $14 for a tube of sunscreen. (I'm saying those from memory and won't promise that I'm exactly right.) They make shampoo and other things, but I don't need those products. They're all in very plain white bottles with very plain blue writing.

The problem is that they're hard to find. They're non-prescription, but Target keeps them behind the counter (no one else in this area carries this line). You have to know what you want and ask for it. I also found them on the shelf at a tiny drug store near my grandmother's house, but the price was higher there. Also, they're available online and you can buy samples/travel sizes.

Try them! Really, the quality is excellent, and -- as I said -- it was my dermatologist who started me using these products.

I buy all of my stuff from www.mothernature.com as I get cash back from SR, usually find a discount code online, and save up things I need so I can get a big enough order to get free shipping. I used to use www.drugstore.com but I've found the same things I was using on MotherNature's website for $2-4 less. I try to only use products with as few ingredients as possible or at least paraben free.

My skin is remarkably good for my age. It's firm, free of wrinkles and age spots - and my college-age daughter is regularly mistaken for my sister.

I learned through a series of mishaps and severe reactions to good-quality/high-end and even "natural" facial products that what's in a product can help or harm skin.

A dermatologist recommended I use the cleanest (i.e. most chemical-free) products I could find. Doing that cleared up my rosacea and the severe reaction I had, and my continued use of "clean" products has resulted in great looking and feeling skin.

The best (most effective) products are those with the highest quality ingredients, not the highest price or best advertising claims.

Research is showing a buildup of chemicals on the skin can cause acne, dryness (which leads to prematurely aging skin) and skin cancer.

With so many manufacturers using chemicals in their products, almost any product - cleansers, moisturizers, shampoos, conditioners, hair gels and sunscreens - can be causing breakouts on your face and body.

There's a page on best-mens-skin-care dot com that shows what to look for in organic products as well as "bad" ingredients to avoid in skin and hair products.

To find chemical-free products, read labels and research ingredients - or start with certified organic ingredients which don't contain harmful chemicals.

I am currently using Desert Essence as well as Alba Botanica products. I buy them at vitacost.com and they are very reasonably priced. I have normal to oily skin and sensitive skin and I have had no problems with these products. I use Jason products on my daughter as well as Nature's Gate. Good luck!

I really like the Yes to Carrots line. Their sensitive skin line, Yes to Cucumbers works great and smells nice too. I use the facial towels and the facial moisturizer. They are not 100% organic (some ingredients are) but are hypoallergenic, oil-free and most important to me, against animal testing and are cruelty-free. I buy it from Target. I have also used Alba and liked it too.

For year I spent tons of money on skin care products and moisturizers. (It makes me feel a little sick thinking about how much.) About 6 months ago a friend of mine suggested that I use olive oil for a moisturizer. At first I thought she was crazy but I tried it anyway.

After a few weeks my skin was clearer then it has ever been. Those black heads on my nose- gone. I don't even need eye cream anymore because it works great around my eye. (I know, you'd think it would get in my eyes but if it does I don't notice it.)

Really, try it... you will be surprised how well it works.
