Can you recommend a video camera?

We have one of the old 8MM ones. It's about five years old and the batteries don't last long and the quality is pretty bad. So, I'm looking to get a new one. I assume MiniDV is the way to go, right? How do they work? Do you upload it to your computer, then burn it to a DVD?

I upgraded from the older Sony handycam to the new Sony handycam mini DVD version. We love it! It is light weight and the "easy" button was it's best selling point for me!

I think the consensus over there is that the digital tape is still the best format
