Hey all!

Any recommendations for a great cookware set? I bought a farberware set at Costo for $79.00 thinking I was getting a good deal. I had to return it. The cookware was too light weight. When I put a pot on the electric burner and if it wasn't completely in the dead center it would lean off the burner wear the handle was. I guess because of the handle's weight? LOL! Anyway, I need a good set, for Thanksgiving and Christmas cooking and of course the rest of the year.

Thanks all so much for any opinions or suggestions.

My MIL got us a set of Paula Deen that I really like. I will say the only downside to it is that it is supposed to be handwashed only.

I have a set of the Food Network ones from Kohls and I LOVE them.

We LOVE our Rachel Ray Anodized Aluminum set - which like the PP's Paula Dean set - ours has to be hand washed.

We have a gas range and the heat distribution is very even, they are very weighty which is great for when you have to stir quickly or a very stiff mixture (like when making fudge!).

They are great!

ok I know I am asking for the world here but any that are inexpensive, light weight, non stick, and can go in the dishwasher? To be completely perfect they would come in yellow! I know Dream On right?

My ILs got us our Calphalon non-stick set. I love it with all of my heart, but do wish it could go into the dishwasher.

I love my Wolfgang Puck set that I got at Sams 2 years ago. It wasnt a bad price and has held up great!!! Its dishwasher safe too. :goodvibes (Its metal/ Stainless Stell/ Alimunmn)

I love my circulon infinite, it's great cookware and is totally dishwasher safe

I love my non-stick Emerilware (I think Calphalon puts it out). Its lightweight, cooks evenly and is easy to clean. I don't know if they are dishwasher safe - I hand wash it. I've had it for over 2 years, cook alot with them and they are still like new.

You can usually get it at BB & Beyond with a 20% off coupon (set or pieces). Sometimes Marshalls & TJ Maxx have the pieces too.

The Green pans from Todd English are fantastic. Can cook with them in the oven and at temperatures of 500 + degrees. There are non stick as well but can take the heat.

My parents got me and DH a stainless steel Kitchen Aide set for Christmas last year. I absolutely love it. It's a very nice weight and cooks evenly. If you can afford it though, build an All-Clad set. My mom loves hers and I plan on getting one when I'm older and can maybe afford it. =)

What's the deal now with Non-Stick stuff? I'm in the market for new pots & pans, but I'm confused about it... I know our current stuff (over 8 years old, a wedding gift when we got married at 21 and all our friends were broke, too ;)) has Teflon and it turns out that's not very healthy when it's heated at high temps. Is non-stick cookware still made with it or do they use something else? I clearly haven't done any research on it yet, but our handles fall off sometimes (we can put them back on, lol!) and we just need a more "grown up" set. :) But, I also want something that's safer for my family.
