Can you really take babies on anything w/o a height req?

No flames, please, I'm not going to endanger my baby (who is 9m, we leave Thursday). But I'm confused - what CAN she ride on (on laps)? I was just looking at the website description of Ellen's Energy Adventure and though it doesn't seem like anything wild, the notes at the bottom do say something about child swap ("parents of young children can enjoy the attraction in turns" or something like that).

I sortof thought she could sit on my lap for things like Small World, etc - am I wrong?

A baby can ride on pretty much anything without a height requirement.
Ellen's Energy Adventure is a very long attraction (the whole thing lasts almost 45 minutes) and it's dark in places and has some loud, sudden noises. Because of that, many people chose to not bring their children on it.

The first time we took our DS7 was when he was 6 months old. He loved sitting on my lap for the MK and Epcot attractions - he had this amazed look on his face the whole time in Spaceship Earth (I think it being dark and the low voice chiming in behind my head had something to do with it!). Beware, though, of sudden loud noises or (especially at MGM) attractions with fire. You know your baby's tolerance limits best, so just go with the flow and have fun!!!

We had my youngest DS there last May and he was only 10 months at the time. We took him on It's a small world (HE LOVED IT) the carrousel, Peter Pan's flight, snow white, Mickey's Philharmagic,ect.. Anything I could hold him on. We even took him on the safari, we did have to hold on to him tight for a few bumps but he loved it. Alot of the shows where it was dark where GREAT for him because it gave us a chance for him to nap in my arms. Just watch out for spraying water like at Mickey's Philharmagic, He and I got a big surprise with that!!!

We have taken ours on everything that didn't have a height requirement. They seem to have a blast but we are aware of when things might startle them and try to prepare them for it so they don't scream too loud.

When we took our DD for her first trip, she was 11 mo old, but small for her age. What we did on most rides was carry her in a Baby Bjorn. It worked great on the bus as well - no worries about her sliding out of my arms. We have a picture of her enjoying the Safari in her Baby Bjorn - she seemed to love it.

I will admit, I have seen some guests taking what look to be newborns (no head control, very tiny) on the Safari with no restraints. If I had a very small child, I would likely keep to the Fantasyland-style dark rides and skip things like the Safari, which does get very bouncy. But at 6-7 months, I'd just do what we did last time, toss the kid in a Baby Bjorn, and wear them through the rides without restrictions.

And my advice? Enjoy them now when the child is too young to be scared. Because in a year or two, Snow White will be too scary, and they won't like It's Tough to be a Bug because it's "too stinky" (DD's opinion - I hold my breath!)

We have taken trips when my ds was 6m and when my dd was turning 1. They went on nearly every ride/show that did not have a height restriction. It is possible that some attractions may offer the child swap because of the fear factor -- some children could be scared of the dinosaurs in Ellen's Energy Adventure and many children are scared in shows like Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Tough to be a Bug to name a couple.

Our son rode loads of stuff in the baby Bjorn when he was a baby. Park the stroller, load him up, hop on a ride. We have photos of him straining to see on Its a Small owrld and on Buzz Lightyear.

Rest assured Disney wont take any chances with your precious one.

DS was 7 1/2 mo during his first trip to the world
He went on all the rides with me in his hip hammock---IMO so much easier to use than a Bjorn--He even loved the Haunted House!!!!

We took DS when he was just over a year old and he went on everything without a height restriction. Anything that was dark, quiet, long or scary, he just fell asleep. He got some of the best naps of the trip in on the Energy ride and HM.
