If you are not staying at a Universal hotel (say WDW resort), is it possible to purchase your park admission and an express pass along with it? Thanks for any info.

Yes. The prices vary at different times of the year. The Express Plus pass entitle you to only one express ride at each attraction.

Do you buy them at guest services?

there was a family tthere when we went in July and they bought 5 or 6 express passes , think it was one day at US and the next time they where at IOA, i said they would have been better booking a room at Universal and getting the room pass for 2 days and ride as many times as you want. They didnt even know about it, and was surprised to find that most people do not know about it .
Boy am i glad i found this site , made our Hol even more enjoyable

Does anyone know how much the express pass cost and where they sell them? TIA

you can buy them at Guest Services and at points around the park. those points are highlighted on the park maps. the cost depends on when you visit, they fluctuate with the attendance.

Does anyone know the cost of an express pass for Aug? We will be visiting Universal next sunday. I'm trying to figure out if we should get express passes or just book a room for one night. TIA

probably no less than about $40 pp....depends how many in your party if it's worthwhile to book room (usually it is cheaper to get the room cuz it IS unlimited FOTL then, not just once per ride!)

I agree with the other guy. Your best bet BY FAR!! Is to just go ahead and stay on site at either the Royal Pacific (My choice) the Portifino (Awesome but more expensive) and the Hard Rock Hotel (only one I've never stayed at.)

Your room key is your express pass, gets you to the front of the line as many times as you want. Allows you to ride over and over again letting you at the front of the line everytime.

For me this part of it, together with just the fact that the onsite Hotels at U are awesome, makes this the only way to go for me. Yes you may spend a few more bucks, but you are going to blow a fortune no matter how you look at it, so whats a couple of extra on top of everything if it makes the experience 10 times better, and staying onsite at Universal does make the experience 10 times better.

The view from the RP of the Islands of Adventure is spectacular, I always request a top floor IOA view and it is one of the best parts of my trip everytime. Plus its walking distance to the parks, and Jimmy Buffets is the first thing you come to at the end of the RP path, then IOA. You can also take the boat into the parks of course, but the path is a good option.
