Unlike the TVs in most hotels, we've always been able to 'plug-in' our own devices into the TVs that we've had at Disney's hotels (granted, all had been at the Polynesian). We would attach a portable DVD or laptop to watch a movie.

Can you plug 'devices' into the TVs on DCL ships? (Specifically the Wonder). Our room would have a DVD player, but can you plug something in like, say, a video camera (to watch the day's events) or a wii? (Don't get me started -- I'd rather hear them playing a wii than those freakin' DSs; those things drive me bananas!).

Thanks!

DCL asks that no DVD players, game consoles, etc. be brought onboard or plugged into the TV's. From the DCL site:

Question
What items are not permitted on board?
Answer
In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for our Guests and crew, the following are examples of items that Guests are not allowed to bring on board. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found.

Weapons and firearms (including ammunition, knives—including dive knives—swords, daggers or any other types of weapons) are not allowed onboard under any circumstances
Realistic replicas of firearms and weapons

Non prescribed controlled substances, illegal drugs, medically prescribed and synthetic marijuana
Power Tools and Tool boxes (except those tools of the trade utilized by vendors providing services)

Also all ships offer laundry facilities with irons and ironing boards. Valet laundry service is also available for a nominal fee.

DVD, VCR, or Blu ray players or, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Wii gaming systems are not allowed because of compatibility issues with the stateroom TVs

Homemade, pre-cooked or other perishable food items plus any open snack containers
Metal detectors are not allowed on the ship or on Castaway Cay, as any object found using thesedevices would need to be returned to the owner or donated to charity

Televisions do have a built in DVD player. Right? I also bring a hand-held DVD player for the kids

The suites have a DVD/Blu Ray player according to the DCL website.
I thought only the crew cabins had built in DVD player's but could be wrong?

I have plugged my iPod Touch into the TV's "Aux" input on the newer flatscreen TV's on both the Dream and the Magic . . . I used composite cables

Thanks for the update on 'what not to bring onboard'. I hadn't seen that.

We're staying in a suite. I'm assuming that there is a DVD on at least one of the TVs in the suite since I think that the room amenities say that the concierge can bring you DVDs. Is the DVD player a DVD/bluray combo? Don't want to stick any of the blurays in the case if we can't play them.

We were in a 1 bedroom on the magic in September and the setup was a dvd/bose player in the living room. In the bedroom it was a dvd player. I am pretty sure that neither one was a blu-ray player. We hooked up a macbook air to the TV in the living room with HDMI cables. We used this to play movies off of the laptop. The TVs are not large though, and in the living room the distance from the TV to the couch is very short maybe 4 feet from the front of the couch to the front of the TV Stand. Also the TV is very low to the ground

We were on the Dream in a 1 bedroom last week and the TVs are much better (obviously newer ship). The TV in the living room is mounted much higher and the cabinet to the side held a samsung blu-ray player that we used. The TV in the bedroom was also at a good level and the player was a sony, it is integrated in a space saving way so that you insert discs vertically. We did not try a blu-ray in this one but I believe that in the menu screen I recall something noting blu-ray. We did not bring any hook ups for our laptop this trip but the entertainment systems on the dream are much more integrated. From the remotes we could change the TV source but we did not check to see if the hookups in the back were available, the TVs did appear to be mounted to the wall rather tightly.
