Can you please prove my dh wrong?!

Hello-
I am wondering how many of you DIS'ers have used the method of shipping a box to your resort prior to arriving. I want to do this, but my dh doesn't like the idea. Iv'e read that this is done regularly, and I want to show him that it will be okay

I am doing it. We will be shipping down the radios, chargers and outlet cord. Stuff that I believe would cause our luggage would be searched. I am also shipping the Pepto. My husband will need it at some point. The liquid works much better for him then the pills. I do not want the pink stuff all over the inside of a suitcase. If I pack it then that is what will open. One trip I packed shampoo inside a zip lock. Thought I was safe. The top to my curlers got crushed and made some sharp pieces. They cut through the zip lock and through the plastic bottle. Everthing was full of shampoo. Lesson learned.

samsmom- I know what you mean! I just want to ship our food that we will be eating rather than putting it in our suitcase, and we won't be renting a car (using ME), so it will be easier to have it at the resort instead of trying to get to a grocery store. I've also heard that we can order groceries online and have them delivered , but I'd rather just ship them if I can convince my wonderful dh .
C'mon I know there are more of you out there! Let me know!

I have never shipped anything to WDW, but I shipped boxes of conference materials to a hotel where I was presenting a workshop. I was a little stressed about it but it was fine. Better than lugging two huge, heavy boxes along with me on the plane. It would have cost more to take them on the plane, too.

Friends of mine have shipped things ahead to a resort in Canada, others have shipped things to Colorado, both of them were shipping things for the kids (diapers, wipes, etc. that are heavy and bulky but expensive at resorts) and they didn't have any trouble.

I have shipped a box of stuff before to POR and it was there when I checked in. I packed items like; sunscreen, breakfast muffins(vacum sealed), Pop-Tarts, bandaids, extra batteries, paper plates, napkins, candy, snacks, aspirin, Pepto, etc. It worked out really well.
I shipped the box via UPS about 3 days before we left and when we checked in, the desk clerk mentioned that the computer showed we had a package waiting for us. She went to the "backroom" and brought it out.
If you ship your box, just address it to yourself at WDW with the resort hotel's address. I also noted our arrival date in the left hand bottom corner of the package.

DD and I even shipped our suitcases last Thanksgiving to POFQ. We didn't want to have to load them in our rented convertable, spend one night at the Universal Resort, load them up again, unload at POFQ and pull them to our room. We shipped 2 very large suitcases and i large carton UPS ground for around $35 and only took a small carry-on bag with us on the plane. It was great and we will probably do the same in October. A CM delivered them right to our room around an hour after we arrived.

Oh, you've convinced me now!

I'm really hating the thought of not being able to have my 'stuff' but flying doesn't make it possible.

We're supposed to arrive on Fri night. Should I ship the Mon. before or the Fri. before? Do you reuse the box to ship back home?

I need a shipping list now...let's see, peanut butter, oreos...

Anybody ship bread before? I love my sandwiches...

I would recommend shipping it with a few days leeway. I have shipped too many things UPS and FedEX that get delayed a couple of days. If the stuff is important then you would have problems on your vacation. I found it easier to just bring it with me instead of worrying whether or not it made it there on time.

I shipped UPS directly to Contemporary a few years ago. No problems at all. I shipped diapers, water bottles, snacks, wipes and other things. I think I sent it about 5 or 6 days before. I put my name, arrival date and Hotel address directly on the outside of box. It was waiting for me at check in. Good Luck..

Why on the plane it is free shipping. I have a home down there and I bring down everything on the plane you are allowed 3 pcs. each. You also know it is there when you want it.

I try to use FedEx Ground. They are the least expensive and take as much time as priority!

Oh, and film. From what I understand the x-ray machines for both carryon and checked luggage will "dull" film. I will be shipping the disposable cameras and extra film.

I did it in April--mailed a package full of pull-ups, wipes, snacks, etc. to Shades of Green, using Federal Express. My only mistake, was that I mailed it a day or two later than I should have. It didn't arrive until the second day of our trip.

We've done it several times--to SoG, the Swan/Dolphin, and PO-R

If I do this it will be mostly breakfast food that I don't want to get smooshed on the plane I know that there is a possibility of it getting smooshed on the UPS truck also though! We don't fly much and I'm already a little concerned about packing correctly and all else that goes along with it, especially since this will be the kids's first plane trip. I just think it's a neat idea to have a package to pick up when you arrive

We ship a box every trip. We stay at BWV, so we ship our breakfast foods and a few other items. Last year I threw in the Halloween costumes too. It is good, as others have said, to add a couple extra days to what they say is proper shipping time. We had a train delay our UPS delivery last year, no big deal, but our box was late. I am planning to ship again this October.

I haven't had to ship stuff down yet but I have shipped stuff back because I had more to bring back than I took down (souvenirs...).

It was the least valuable stuff, namely clothing, that got shipped separately.

LOVED IT! We shipped 3 large suitcases, in cardboard boxes. Send them FedEx Ground from CT to FL. It took 3 days and cost about $45. Best thing we ever did, with 2 small kids, strollers, etc to worry about in the airport. My only warning would be -- be careful about how it's shipped back home, if you decide to do that. We confirmed with CBR that they would go back by FedEx Ground, same way they came. Gave them our FedEx account number and everything. Turns out they shipped it back GroundSaver, which cost $200, to ship dirty laundry!! After arguing with the front desk and at CBR, they refunded the entire cost, but what a nightmare! HTH

This brings back wonderful memories of the Ex's tirade after I shipped dirty laundry home from a trade show. ROFLMAO.....

Seriously though, Shipping "special items" to a resort location and somethings back home is a great way to cut down on the "hassle factor" involved with travel these days. I'd advise anyone to give it a try. You'll be hooked once you've tried it.

Do some things get "lost" or "delayed" from time to time? Yep, it's gonna happen sooner or later. However, this also happens with the airlines and you still have to lug the stuff around....

WE always ship DS diapers (he is handicapped and has a perscription for diapers) A case of wipes, baby stuff, granola bars, snacks , water bottles, swimmies, DVD's (again DS only likes to watch certain movies before bed, DVD player, extra sneakers, anything bulky. etc. The last time we did this we included a few soft sided suitcases.When we were ready to go home we packed up all our stuff and we sent it to the airport with the Disnye's luggage service and this way we didn't have to ship it back....down to the lobby and we didnt see it again until we were at our home airport. It was GREAT! We have been doing this for years. We call the day before we leave just to make sure it has arrived. We have never had any trouble!
