Can you pay with the Magic Band at all restaurants at Disney?

I was wondering if you can pay with the magic bands at all restaurants at Disney now or if there were still locations that can only take kttw cards?

We're going to be using the dining plan and when I was making the reservation the cm on the phone said we would need to use our kttw card at some places that did not have the readers for the bands. After reading about the band only option at Pop Century I was wondering how that would work? If guests didn't get a kttw card and the dining locations couldn't take the bands as payment how could guests pay? I can't imagine Disney creating a situation like that, especially during a time when free dining was offered. Would guests on the dining plan still get a kttw card?

Yup! Everywhere I ate at 2 weeks ago had the scanner including QS places at resorts.

Awesome, Thank you both! I figured they would have them in all places by now. How does it work at table service restaurants? Do they have a hand held reader they bring to the table or do you just hand them one of your magic bands?

Yup! Everywhere I ate at 2 weeks ago had the scanner including QS places at resorts.

Thank you! I remembered seeing them at Port Orleans on our last trip. I'm glad they are at all of the resorts too.

They have a hand held scanner. You should not have to remove your magic band to scan it.

If you are dining at the Swan and Dolphin you will need to bring an alternate method of payment, they do not accept Disney room charges.

How do they secure them? Do you enter your pin at the restaurants as well?

Yes, you enter your PIN on the handheld scanner.

We just returned from 16 wonderful days and used our magicbands to pay for everything. Every time you use your pin. At Ts they have a hand held which they scan the band and you enter your pin then they return with your slip to add tip (if applicable) and sign. Easy peasey!

1) Yes.
2) That is one of the BIG ideas behind bands.
3) Let people pay by waving their hand.
4) They don't count the dollars as closely, so they spend more.
5) Meals included.

When do you get your PIN? Upon checkin at the resort? I received my MB but no PIN.

charging privileges on our bands (having it removed at check-in, too easy to overspend for me ) but we do have the dining plan. I assume they'll have to scan the band for that? And I'll get a paper bill for incidentals?

Yes, you will set up your own pin when you check in.

Yes, you will use your band or room key card for the dining plan.

Yes, you will get a bill for anything you order off-plan, let your server know how you plan to pay for these items.
