Can you pay for your disney resort reservations with a Disney gift card?

Just wondering if you can pay with your disney resort vacation with a Disney Gift card.

If so can you do it online or do you have to call and give them all the information of the gift card?

Yes, you can pay for your resort with a gift card. That's how I pay for my trips. I don't know about online or not, I always just give my TA the gc numbers and she does it for me.

I see you are in Ohio. If you shop at Giant Eagle, watch for their next gift card promo featuring spend $50 get twenty cents off a gallon of gas. The last time they had it we bought the Disney cards bought several hundred dollars. Then waited till our gas tank was near empty and filled our tank for free. Then went back and did it all over again for a total savings of $65 in free gas!

Don't forget to buy extra gift cards to use on the trip as well.

Yes, you can. But be sure to keep the card in case you have to cancel or whatever. We decided to stay off-site instead of POP and they had to put it back on the same card. I had saved all of my used gift cards in an envelope, just in case.

I just paid for our reservations with 11 gift cards. I did it online at first but after entering 4 cards the system locked up. So I ended up calling and doing it all by phone. It was a bit tricky to figure out if the one I was working on entering online had already been credited. If you have a number of cards, I would recommend calling. The CM on the other end definitely wasn't thrilled to apply all those cards, but, hey, I tried to do it online! They do tell you to keep the cards in case of a cancellation.

On the same note, can you pay for tickets online with gift cards? I was just looking and don't see the option to do that. If you can't do it online can I call and order tickets and pay with gift cards? Trying to get a good gas deal!

We do this also - except DH fills my car then puts the remaining amount of gas into gas cans which he brings home and puts in his car. We fill up like this every few weeks. I stop at Giant Eagle and buy gift cards for everything.

Not sure if your store will allow it but mine lets me pull my cars through. We don't do it everytime but I have filled both of mine, and or filled mine and my mother in laws with the discount.

My daughter's school participates in Scrip and we buy Disney cards though her school. The school gets 2% of the giftcard money. So our school will get about $46 after we buy all of our gift cards for this trip. I wait until I get about 200 in my vacation envelope and then I buy 2 $100 GCs from the school and then give my TA (o Disney reservations) the card numbers. It works great and it helps out our school.

This is how I buy ours too! Except our school gets 30% of the 2% and I get 70% of the 2% to help pay for our tuition! Every little bit helps. I would like to buy walgreens scrip at the higher % and take those and buy disney from walgreens but I am nervous that they will say you can't buy a gift card with a gift card.

When you apply the gift card to the reservation, do they ask for the pin on the back? I misplaced one of our cards and was able to find the number, but not the pin.

Yes!! as a matter of fact, that is how we make our trip plans every year. I buy the gift cards at SAMS club and put them away, and pay off the trip when the deadlines approach with the cards. I also bring remaining cards and apply them to my account at the resort to cover our dining costs etc.

That is exactly how I paid for my entire vacation this time because my daughters gymnastics uses Scrip and I pay for her fees with that 2%. I paid for a vacation and had no out of pocket fees for her gymnastics this year at all, sweet!!! Love to double dip.

You definitely can pay with gift cards.

Last trip we paid off our room using over 60 $50 gift cards (bought them from Target with the 5% automatic discount) right at the front desk. I wouldn't do that again though, since it was about a 5 step process for each gift card, checking the balance, recording the amount on a piece of paper (weird?), manually entering the amount, etc. All in all the checkin process took about an hour.

It did save us a good amount of money, but how much is your time worth?

My Target only has $25 gift cards. I've never seen them in $50's. I really do wish I could find them in bigger denominations. I LOVE the savings but feel like such a pest paying with all those $25 GC's online and especially at the front desk.

Don't worry about being a pest
I bought all kinds of GC from Kroger recently when they had the 4X Fuel Promo. (thanks to the DIS for alerting me to that promo and some good tips)
Our store was out of the large denomination GC so I had to buy $50 but mainly $25 and some $15 GC.
Whenever I called, I usually averaged 5-8 GC per call.
When they asked if I was making a payment with my Disney Visa Rewards card, I would say no, I'm using quite a few GC is that a problem.
I was told absolutely not - I even asked if there was a limit as to how many cards they could enter.
One CM said I don't think so - just keep giving me numbers and I'll keep entering them in.
My last call I used 11 cards. When the CM asked if there was anything else she could do for me, I said I think you did enough for me entering in all my cards - she said no problem at all, it was my pleasure. We look forward to seeing you soon.
On a previous trip, I used around 5 different types of GC to check in and the CM at the front desk didn't mind at all. In fact, she said that transaction gave her good training.
I guess you might get a CM who would act frustrated, but I think overall they don't mind.

One minor thing to keep in mind...if you are participating in the YES program, you cannot buy those tickets with Disney gift cards. We found that out the hard way, after already buying the gift cards to go towards those tickets! Luckily, we knew someone else going to Disney and were able to "sell" her our gift cards and use that cash towards our YES tickets.
