Can you pay for someone's dinner reservation months in advance

Goofy question, but my in laws are going to Yachtsman for their anniversary in February. We were thinking as a Christmas present that we would possibly pay for their dinner ahead of time (I know we don't know exactly what they will be eating yet and all that, so no flaming).

Is this possible somehow? I am thinking the responses will be "just buy them a Disney gift card" but we don't want to do it that way.

Any thoughts?

Not sure there is any way to do this unless you call the restaurant on the day of the reservation. Unless they know what the guests will be ordering, there's no way they will be able to know how much you should pay, so I doubt you will be able to pay in advance at a restaurant that doesn't have a fixed - price menu. You might have to google until you find the restaurant's direct number, WDW prefers that guests not have the direct numbers. Or try Guest Services, tell them what you want to do and see if they will give you the number. You will have to speak directly to the restaurant, probably to a manager, to see if they will do something like take your credit card number and use that to pay for whatever your in-laws order.

Months in advance, not going to happen.

Can you give them a gift card with what you think they might use on it? That might be the most efficient way to do it.

I know that you prefer not to give a gift card, but aside from those meals that actually REQUIRE prepayment, like CRT or the dinner shows, there is no other way to pay for someone else's meal in advance.

Consider it logically.

- You don't know what they'll be ordering, so there's no way to know the final amount of the bill.
- You don't know for sure that they'll make their reservation.
- Even if someone COULD take your CC number in advance, Disney has no way of ensuring that the card will be valid two months from now.
- Do you think anyone wants to be responsible for holding onto your CC number for two months?
- Would you WANT someone to hold onto your CC number for two months? I wouldn't!

I'm not sure what your aversion to a GC is, but that's the only way to do it. I'd include a note like "enjoy the Yachtsman!" & hope it went to good use. :goodvibes

1) Then your option is zilch.
2) If it is a matter of them not knowing the meal price, they will find out when they order.
. . . food menus have prices
. . . wine lists have prices
. . . not hard to figure what the tab truly is
