Can you pay for a dining plan with Disney gift cards?

I recently rented DVC points for a week's stay in May, 2016. I want to add a dining plan to the reservation when we are closer to the date but was wondering if I could do so by giving the points owner Disney gift cards in order to get the 5% Target Red Card discount. Has anyone tried this?

Yes, Disney Gift Cards are accepted by DVC as payment for the dining plans. You would need to give the owner you rented from the Gift Card numbers and they would need to call to add the dining plan and apply payment.

The new Disney Gift Card website (DisneyGiftCard.com) will also allow you to consolidate Gift Card balances to a max of $1,000 per card.
