Can you pack for a week using just a carry on?

I'm tempted to bring our bags to the gym and weigh them on the scale there before our trip. However, don't they just put ALL your bags on the scale together? So, it is a combined weight?

i always end up packing more clothes than i actually need. I could wear my shorts for 2 days each, new shirt for each day -but sometimes i buy one....i dont know i should go pretend pack and see. lol

We like to cram in a 24 pack of Dasani into our two checked bags so i think it'd be too expensive if we didnt do that and bought it at disney. We do have refillable mugs though, proabably no Dasani though.

I would feel better about it not getting lost though!

I just spent 3 weeks in Europe in 6 cities and did it all out of a carry on bag. I plan to do so for my Disney trip.

I've learned simplicity makes travel so much easier.

I put maybe, because if you are traveling with kids there are necessities that you don't want to pay for at the parks that go hand in hand with kids. But definitely possible with Owner's Locker or shipping a box to the resort. For adults only I think it's totally manageable with a carry on.

I can't understand why you want to travel COO. I put a change of undies & shirt in my backpack, along with small versions (<3oz) of makeup, toothpaste,etc that fit in the quart size bag that FAA approves, so that if my suitcase doesn't arrive when I do, we are still good to go for the next morning. DD and I usually pack in one large and one 22" suitcase for a week at WDW, with space to spare, but always check the 22" suitcase as well as the larger one (and it's not huge, but definitely no CO). I HATE dragging luggage through airports, finding space to cram it into the overhead, etc. (however, if it doesn't fit into the overhead you can gatecheck, which is actually a sweet deal- all your stuff, handed to you as you get off the plane!).

We can easily do 8 days with a carryon.... whether it be Disney or the Caribbean.

I pack clothes that all coordinate so that you only need a couple pairs of shoes and as little jewlery as possible.

Not only can it be one carry-on but it's my North Face Skareb 55 and nothing else beside my smaller Burberry bag for the usual. I even keep my laptop in that bag. I'm only 5'2" and about 105 lbs so my clothes aren't that big. So that helps, lol.

And that's for TWO weeks!

Maybe that's the key! We 'Big, Fluffy' people have much bigger clothes that take up more space. Hmm! That might be an incentive to lose weight!

I know I am an overpacker, but my weakness isn't really clothes. It's the other stuff (OTC medications, toiletries, foot care products (if my feet ain't happy, no one is happy ), shoes, lots of sunscreen, etc). I said clothes aren't my problem, but if I'm traveling in hot weather I do like to change clothes twice a day. We usually go back to the room after lunch, take a bath and get cooled off. I then hate to put dirty clothes back on. I am also a very light sleeper that can't sleep without noise, so always carry a white noise machine. I have to have that thing. My clothes would stay home before the white noise machine would.

I am so happy to see that people can back for trips in their carry on. I have been trying to convince my Dsis that I can back for 12 days in my carry on only. That is 8 days at the parks and 4 day cruise. She keeps telling me my shoes would fill a carry on.

One great thing that I found was from Linens n things. they are travel containers for liquids and come with labels. They are great because you can use your own products from home (which help with the cost too plus its a product you really like) and they are perfect for up to 14 days or so.. You get a bunch of them!

It can be done. I can pack about 8 days worth of clothes in my Travel Pro 22" rollerboard suitcase. But I kind of had to get better at packing over the years. It was only when I became a Flight Attendant and had to be gone for days at a time that I got really good at packing. Before, I would always overpack and never could get more than 3 or 4 days worth of clothes in my suitcase. I have it down to an art now.

But....my 2 year old and I share a suitcase and now his stuff takes up most of the room. I always take 1-2 outfits per day for him because I am really type A about him being clean and as soon as he get a spot on his clothes, I change him. To me there is nothing worse than a dirty child. No excuse for it. So I am thinking about buying a bigger suitcase for next year when we go to WDW. But it still going to be a challenge since most airlines now have a 50lb weight limit. And with the exception of Southwest, most air service out my airport is regional jets or even worse....props. And the weight is very strict on those aircraft.

Kids are kids. Funny thing about kids getting dirty, they clean up very well. who cares if they get a little dirty that's part of growing up

I know there is no way I can pack in a carry on. My in laws laugh when I take the kids over their house for the weekend. Their bags look like they are staying for a week. I like to pack extra just in case. But this trip I plan on up sizing their little bags to medium sized bags to pack some stuff in. I also will have them each use a carry on. I am also shipping some stuff down to the resort before we go, like our 2 year olds pull ups and wipes. Its going to be tough to begin with to pack for all 3 kids because its a complete surprise to all of them so mommy will be packing for everyone and for me to try to pack everyone in a carry on will be impossible. We are flying airtran so as long as the suitcase is within their limits we should be fine, the first one is free for everyone and then its between $10 adn $20 for the 2nd, but I shouldn't have a problem as long as everyone's suitcase is the same size. I don't plan on using the little kiddie type suitcases.

If you take a mid day break and return to the parks later in the day when its cooled off some and you put on clean clothes you maybe able to wear those clothes again another morning.

That's what I figured. I don't want my family to be the reason everyone on the bus is saying eewww!

We don't take breaks...who has time to? So much to see and do and we want to see and do it all. We always open and close the parks. Guess I'll be packing enough for every day...and a few extras. At least I won't have to pack bulky items like jeans, sweatshirts, and coats.

any try to use those "space Saver" bags to try and get more in a small suitcase.. i realize that EVERYTHING will like end up wrinkled and all just a thought.. although if the airline is Weighing carryon's too, then that would be foiled as well.

Ialways use the space saver bags and have never noticed 'extra' wrinkles...and I'm picky about wrinkles.

I once read a tip on how to carry 'extra' with you without being charged. A coat doesn't count as a personal item. Buy a coat with multiple pockets and fill them full of whatever. (I can see someone pulling their hand out to shake anothers and there being a pair of undies stuck to their sleeve. )
