Can you OD on Sudafed?

I feel your pain! I have "issues" sleeping also. At one point I was taking Unisom almost every night, but then it stopped working and actually did what you are describing. Now I take it about once a week, just to get one full night's sleep.

I have taken ambien before, and it really knocks me out. I am not so sure I reccommend it, though.

It really stinks to be sleep deprived. I hope it is just a "phase" we are going through!:confused3

It does stink, doesn't it?? If this is a phase, it's been lasting for more then a year and I feel like a zombie. I was doing the Unisom once a week too and then about two months ago it had no sedative affect on me, but the hyper problem. I've been taking melatonin (supplement) and it helped for a little while but now nothing.

Why don't you recommend ambien?

OP, I'm sorry to hijack your thread!!! I'll start a new one.

I'm fine. I just felt weird, jittery, and itchy for a couple of hours. My co-workers probably think I'm a druggie or something. ;)

Try Benadryl, I know it's for allergies but it does the trick for me! I am out like a light all night with 2 of these about an hour before bedtime. Unisom used to make me real jittery in the morning.

Thanks Chyam! I had heard that before, but thought it had the same active ingredient so it would just be the same reaction. I will have to try it!

Glad you are ok, biscuitsmom!

Benadryl and things like Tylenol PM have the same active ingredient -- diphenhydramine. It makes you sleepy. Your best bet to find the cheapest version is to go to, say, Target, and get their brand of Benadryl. That will usually be cheaper than any brand name antihistamine or sleep aid, and even cheaper than Target brand sleep aid.

Just butting in!!

I don't take ambien, but I know someone who does. Not only is she completely dependant on it, but after taking it she once slept through a tornado!

I have trouble sleeping too (probably why I'm posting this at 3:30 AM, huh?), but I don't think I'd ever take ambien!
