Can you make slight alterations at Via Napoli?

My husband loves pizza and would love to eat at Via Napoli. However, garlic hates me (while I'm not technically allergic, let's just say that the side effects are highly unpleasant).

I know their quattro formaggi pizza doesn't have sauce, so I could order that to avoid the garlic in the sauce. However, if they add garlic to the pizza, I would need to have it left off.

I remember reading that Via Napoli was especially un-helpful when it came to even slight changes to their pizzas, but this was back when it first opened. Is that still the case, or could I make a small change like no garlic on a pizza?

I've read that they will now leave off toppings now (although they will not add toppings), but I don't know the deal with the garlic, how it's presented or how difficult it would be to leave it off the pizza. I should say I really do not know if the garlic counts as a "topping" or even whether or not they add it to the four cheese pizza.

It would seem to me that garlic would be extremely difficult to leave off of a menu in an Italian restaurant. I can't imagine that they'd "add" garlic to the pizza, but I'd be surprised if garlic wasn't used in the preparation of the ingredients.

I ate at Via Napoli about a week and a half ago, and there's now a "build your own pizza" section on the menu. I ordered a cheese pizza with mushrooms, eggplant, and red peppers, easy enough and delicious! I would think that customzing one of the pizzas on the menu would be perfectly fine, given they give patrons the opportunity to come up with their own creations now!
Enjoy :goodvibes

Edited to add: There was no added garlic on my pizza, not sure if it's added to others or just contained within ingredients, as the previous poster suggested as well!

Thanks everyone! Hopefully they can help me out. I realize it's not a good place to go with a garlic sensitivity, but both DH and our friends are really dying to eat there. I also saw a chicken salad on the menu that I could easily enjoy if they can't omit the garlic from the quattro formaggi.
