Can you make ADRs for more people than you have on your room reservation?

I'll be traveling to Disney with my husband, 2 sons, mother and aunt. My mom and aunt are in one room, and I'm in the other with DH and the boys.

I'll be the one making all of our ADRs. Will I be able to book dining for a party of 6 under my own room account (even though there are only 4 people staying in my room), or will I need to make 2 separate reservations for each meal (4 under my own name, and 2 under my mom's)?

Also, how insane is it to make ADRs on the 180th day? If I have to split the reservations, is there a chance that while I am making the reservation for 4 at a particular time & place, the place will fill up and I will then be unable to make the reservation for 2 at the same time & place?

Thank you in advance for any and all advice!

I can answer part one. We went with our best friends for our 25th anniversary trip in September, staying at the CSR. We had separate rooms and all of the ADR's were made by us for a party of four. This is not a problem at all. At your meal, you will just tell them you are on the dining plan and want two separate checks--one or party of four and the other for the party of two.

I've never personally made my own ADR's. My TA handles all of this for me. But you need not worry about two separate reservations--since you don't have to do this.

Yes you can book for more than is in your room. All you need is your confirmation number and a credit card for some meals.

And making reservations on the 180th day isn't too bad..lol..I called as soon as I could that morning of my 180 days out. And, got every reservation we needed or wanted. Hope this helps!

Dining reservations and room reservations are not tied together in any way. You don't even need to be staying at a Disney resort to make a dining reservation (think of the all the off site people and locals).

Make your reservations for six and don't worry about it. They will just need your name, the party size, and if any children are in your party.

If you are requesting one of the "really big ones" like CRT, make that first. Most restaurants don't fill at 180 days or anywhere near to that. We usually don't plan our trips that far in advance and rarely have trouble getting an ADR that we want, especially if I can be a little flexible as to time.

That said, I don't normally do holiday weekends, although even that has been frequently successful.

You can make reservations for as many persons as you want. It has nothing to do with where you're staying and who's in which room. Anyone, even those staying offsite and locals, can make reservations for WDW restaurants.

If you want to split the checks, make sure you inform your server.

Because you'll be a party of six, you'll need to pay the 18% automatic gratuity at all table service restaurants.
