I know that you can't link a disney gift card to your magic band for charging purposes. So I'm wondering if you can link a prepaid Visa gift card to your account in the same way you would a credit card.

Anyone try this?

You can't directly link any card to a MagicBand for purchasing. Only Disney Resort Guests can use their MagicBand to charge back to their room account.

When you check in to your Resort they would apply any amount you request up to the amount on the Gift Card. If you do not spend the entire applied amount when you check out they will refund the remaining amount back to that card. But you must be a Resort Guest.

Good to see you posting again, Cheshire Figment! You've been missed around here. :)

Yes. I know that. I'm a resort guest.

Thanks for not offering any real info!

OK lets get something straight people

A yes you can link a debit/credit card to your band I've talked with disney about doing it for my upcoming trip as well as had friends who've done it. YES YOU CAN LINK A DEBIT/CREDIT CARD to specific bands

in example you could have 4 bands with 4 respective cards

as for the prepaid i am not sure its possible just depends what they do when linking the debit/credit card to the band

you must link the card upon arrival you can't do it online but you can onsite

I don't know about prepaid cards. Some retailers are funny about taking those cards for certain things because your name is not embossed on the card. I would call Disney and ask about using these types of cards on your room account. I would call several times and get a consensus from the phone cast members. Sometimes their info is not the most accurate. I understood your question as I have seen several people have their prepaid cards rejected (once when trying to pay for a hotel room).

Why on earth will Disney not let you link a gift card?:rolleyes2

Gift cards have a fixed value, for example let's say you want to link a gift card that has $300 value. The room charging limits are $500 value/$100 moderate/$1500 deluxe resort. Whatever card is linked is not charged until the limit is reached or at checkout. So you could charge $450 to the room and only be able to cover $300 with the card that was linked.

Also nothing preventing you from linking a gift card to the room account and then using all of its value directly in the parks leaving nothing to cover room charges.

That makes perfect sense! :thumbsup2

This is a strange subject for people to be so cross when posting.
