Can you lie?

I can manage on the phone if I have to. A good one is "oh, I've got to go someone's at the door."

The DH and I use each other with phone calls alot. The old "Honey, I need you in here." Gets us off the phone quickly.

Wow! I learned that on the movie the Negotiator!! I watch true crime stories every day and can tell by the "eyes" who's telling the truth!

I remember posting a few years back that Scott Petersen was lying because during his interview with Barbara Walters his eyes kept going up to the left!
"To the Left to the left!!" He's LYING!!

Did anyone THINK he was telling the truth???????? He was the King of Creeps!

Also if someone touches their own face while talking to you...THEY ARE LYING!!!

Yes, I can lie so well I sometimes scare myself. I think...man, I could really get away with a LOT more, if I were so inclined...

The only thing I can't lie about is when I am upset with my DBF, but don't want to discuss it for whatever reason (mainly because it would be a bad time to have a conversation about it.) Then, I can never keep the emotion out of my voice...

I can lie really well. I come up with the most outlandish stories and people believe me! Maybe it's not that I'm a good liar as much as I hang around with dumb people.

This really made me laugh, it sounds like my ex(thank God) boss. The problem was, no one actually believes her, but it's prudent to act as if they do, she signs the paychecks after all. We all knew she wouldn't know the truth if it bit her in the butt. She obviously thought everyone else was stupid, because some of the BS she'd come up with wouldn't fool a 2 year old.
WE all had a blast when she wasn't around comparing her latest stories.

Hmmmmm, I guess it all depends of if OTHERS think I can lie ...I may think I am pulling it off, but what if they are lying right back to make me THINK I am getting away with it....gets too complicated...I stick with the truth or avoidance of the subject. Better to be rude by ignoring than rude by lying!

It comes from being an actress for so long i guess. I dont really do it unless I have to. But it comes in handy...I throw some monster the person has no clue at all and thinks something else surprise parties!

I can put a spin on the truth. For instance, there was a woman that posted in a group I am in that she found two very small kittens in the field behind her home. The mother was dead as was the rest of the litter. She was unable to care for these babies so she asked if anyone could take them. I answered yes. We agree to meet at Krogers. Well, low and behold, my DH decides to go with me so what was to be a surprise was becomeing a challange. So the story to DH was : Oh my, I just ran into this poor lady that found these two kittens and doesn't know what to do with them. They were found over in the field as she was walking by. (There is a field next to Kroger so he just assumed that was the field ) SO he still thinks they were found at Krogers as does the rest of the family. So I guess I could say I just tell partial truths sometimes.
Oh, I've used the we will be out of town thing before too. After all we were leaving our area and driving to another one about 30 mins away!

I can lie like a champ. I can also pretend to throw up very convincingly. It's a good thing I have an honest soul! I actually tend to be a little blunt with the truth sometimes. But if I ever had to lie in court, I could pull it off no problem!

Me too!!! I don't lie on a regular basis though (unless it's to my DM). It's a lot easier to tell her a version of the truth and to avoid the aggravation she'll give me. For example She still doesn't know that we're DVC members (we have been since March 2005). I always tell her that my DSnL is taking us to Disney again (they're DVC members too and we usually with them and other friends). My motto is what my mother doesn't know won't torture me!!!

I cannot lie, either!! I am brutaly honest and even when the lie is good...surprises, parties, showers...I am horrible about it. I just have to avoid any discussion of such. I did pull off a suprise last summer that I am still stunned I was able to accomplish!!!

I lie a lot at work. If someone wants a discount on their room, I say Sorry but the owner is not here...(But I am the owner ). If people want to complain and want to talk to the owner, I AM RIGHT HERE...

We offer a good room, for a good price and they are really clean. I am not going to argue with someone on price when I have 4 customers behind them that will want the same reduction. I have learned that if I say "No, sorry no rebates" they still take the room.

As for really lying...No but I can plan a surprise party etc as that is not really lying, it's good planning.

I can not be mean, so if you have a new haircut or sweater that I don't like I just say "it's nice". That is the kiss of death from me..,If I think it's NICE, it's not. Now if I say it's really nice and cute, then I mean it.

DH is worse than I am, he could not lie if his life depended on it. He sayd there is no way he will ever cheat because I see right through him every time he even tries to fib.

Face to face I am not a good liar. Over the phone, I hate to admit I am pretty darn good. I sometimes have to tell little lies when someone calls looking for my boss. He actually told me one day that it scares him how well I lie over the phone.
