We're an unexperienced RV family looking at the possibility of buying a TT. A major usage of our trailer would be Disney trips - but our work and school schedules mean the trips would always be in the summer. That's where our concern arises. We're looking at units in the 30 foot range, and would probably upgrade to a 15k BTU AC unit. Can this actually keep a trailer cool in FL summers? We can handle the heat for a while, but if we can't retreat to a cool place midday, the whole idea may be wrong for us.

I'd greatly appreciate any insight/experience you can share.

It all depends upon ifin you wish to be in an icebox or just comfy. Its hot all over in the summer and mine keeps up very well even at the Fort. Our trailer is 33 ft and its a 15k.unit. Most likely it won't frost the winders but it will be comfy inside.

I would think that either air conditioning unit will keep the trailer cool if you run the AC continuously. Don't expect it to cool off a hot trailer in a few minutes 'though.

We noticed this on travel days to/from the Fort in August. It would take an hour or more to get the humidity out of our 29 foot TT which I think had a 13.5kBTU air conditioner. It had no problem when running continuously at the Fort.

We camp all over florida, keys in august, fort wilderness in july.,31 ft 2 slide tt,.The issue I notice is when everyone is running their ac, voltage fluctuates.Low voltage hurts appliances.I use an autoformer, ac is a 15k, tint all windows with darkest I could find. We keep ours in the low 70's always.Have fun looking at campers....

Just an added note....I'd invest in something to get the excess moisture out of the inside of your camper. Something like a couple of Damp-Rids seems to work pretty well.

We would sometimes open the roof vents to help when first cooling it down. The cold air forces the heat out. If you start to see humidity build up, you either need to increase the temp or open the vents. Humidity can cause mold. You can also use fans if you find that it is cooling unevenly. Ours was ducted, as I am sure most are, so it cooled pretty evenly.

Our popup was a whole different story. Needed fans in that.
