Can you "hire" a character?

Is it possible to "hire" a character for say a 15 minute time slot...to come to your room, meet you at the airport, or something different? We are taking our grandchildren to WDW and they (us too!) would be sooooooo exited if we could accomplish something like this

Thanks!
Julie

I know you can if you are having a wedding or vow renewal, but otherwise I am not sure.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

Perhaps an outside company offers such a service with "look-a-like" characters? ie.. intended for birthday parties or something along those lines.

I am sure others will chime in with more input.

Yes you can but it is PRICEY. We were at the Grand Floridian and saw Mickey and Minnie come up the elevator to our floor. We asked the concierge and she said it was for a private appearance in a guest's room. When we asked how much that was-she said"You don't want to know" We of course insisted-ready? $700.00 for half an hour for Mickey ! Anyhow, they do have this at GF so you could try other resorts-maybe not as expensive elsewhere:confused3

They do this but it is very expensive no matter where they go but the airport, I don't think so.

Who do I talk to about it? Where the characters can/will go and how much it will cost?

Thanks!
Julie

I guess you can call the Disney number and see where that takes you. I know it is really pricey. We had them for a parade in our city, and there were all sorts of "rules" that goes along with having them too.

Interesting question:

Someone on Flickr claimed that they "hired Sleeping Beauty" for their 4-year-old's birthday. Not sure if she's "official", though.

Somehow my reply isn't showing up:

Sorry for the double post, mods. For some reason, some replies don't show up unless I'm in linear mode.

WDWNana..If you find out the information will you post it, just so we know. Thanks!!

Sure can hire one to come to your room! I tried to do it myself and once i heard the price I almost passed out!:scared1: I don't remember exactly but all I wanted was for Mickey to bring balloons to our children and it was in the ballpark of $1000 give or take a few bucks. Personally I would rather do something else since you can be home and hire a character for less than $300 an hour from an entertainment company. Not the same I know- but for that kind of money that would pay for our airfare.

Are you grands boys or girls? There is a pricey tea (abt $200) at the GF that is absolutely exquisite! The character is Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora) and there is a gift of a large doll etc. Also not too many kids - about 20 max. I know at one time an appearance in room by characters was $800, don't know what it is now. Assuming you are staying on property, call the concierge at the hotel and ask the question. If they can't help, I am sure they can refer you to someone who can.

Just a thought about having a character come to the airport...keep in mind that other kids there will be clamoring to see the character as well, and their parents may not realize that it is a privately arranged meeting (especially if it is in the vicinity of Disney Magical Express). I'm not sure, but you may have to deal with parents who think that their children are welcome to ask for autographs, take pics, etc. Maybe you're OK with that, maybe not, but it is something to be aware of. And even if you don't mind saying, "no, I'm sorry, this is just for our family," having to do so may be quite a distraction from watching your grandchildren enjoy their moment.

Wow...a personal visit from Mickey would be so fun!!! But I guess iI will never find out at thast price!! LOL!
