we can not find my wife a swimsuit anywhere around here. is there any place you guys would suggest in orlando to purchase a plus sized swimwear, where you dont have to pay 80.00 for a swimsuit. please help...

you could try here - call them first to see if they carry therm, but i know most sears stores have women's sizes. of course this will only work if you have a car to get there. no idea on price though - women's swim suits are silly expensive.

Sears Mall Store
8001 S ORANGE BLOSSOM TRL
FLORIDA MALL
ORLANDO, FL 32809
(407)826-9600

at the same mall there is also a jc penney store, they are also good for having real woman's sizes. again, might not be cheap though.

JCPenney
The Florida Mall
8001 S Orange Blossom Ste 700
Orlando, FL 32809

that mall is not far from WDW. take 4 to 528. the mall is around the intersection of 528 and 429.

also, you might want to call over to Typhoon Lagoon. i know that there is a nice shop there that sells womans swim suits and i am pretty sure the carry not tooth pick sizes. (i got one there a few years back.) again, going to be hard to get one inexpensively.

hope this helps!

Do you have any Lane Bryants or Fashion Bugs around? Try Ebay, they may have some as well if you're sure of the size.

If you are going to have a car...wait until you get to Disney and go to the Walmart Supercenter that is located on Hiway 192 (also known as Irlo Bronson hiway).

It's not difficult to get to, nor is it terribly far from Disney. They have a nice selection of plus-size suits for about $30-$40 each...plus lots of Disney T's, souveniers etc.

Being Pooh size myself, I appreciate the problem...to get anything attractive and well made, you have to pay big bucks :sad2:

After shopping around, I purchased a lovely swimsuit at Catherines.com. Go to www.naughtycodes.com (THE best site I know for online codes) and you'll find several discounts available for Catherines.com. I used the "$15 off a purchase of $50.00 of more" code and with shipping the total was just over $43.00 :cheer2:

The selection was great, many on sale, and I am very pleased with the quality of the swimsuit I purchased. Of course, you can always go to a Catherine's store, if you have one near you. But, busy gal that I am, I actually prefer to shop online. :flower:

I'm one of the Cheapest shoppers around. But when it came to swimware. Heres my thought. I'm pooh sized. Always was, most likely, always will be!

So....
1. I wanted a suit I would be comfortable in and to be seen in.
2. I wanted the suit to be well made so it would last along time.

I was at Sears and found a suit that the style was perfect!! It had a tank top style top with 2 in straps, and long shorts about 4 in above the knee.

The price made be me have a heartache! And my husband had a cow!! $75

That was 2001.

Four years later I still wear the swimsuit!! It was a really good bargain!! It is still like new!! And I will wear it for many more years.

Trust me, the same is true of the not so Pooh-sized suits as well. Unless you are in the really really tiny category and happen to hit a sale. Why do they always screw us on swimsuits? And the really crazy part is that the less fabric, often, the higher the price!

Having said all that, Target carries plus sized suits. I'm not sure where it is, but I know there is one in the Orlando area. They also carriy maternity stuff, so maybe (know that as a preggo - plus sized clothes often worked - she could also try the generous preggo dept. at Target. Actually these two depts. sorta of blend into one another at most Target stores I have been to, so it's often a little hard to tell which dept you are actually shopping in. They often mix the sale items on the same rack, too.)
Target also has a good web page, if ther is still time to order online before your trip.

I totally agree, tink2dw ::yes::

Although I'm always on the look out for a bargain, with my size, it's especially important to buy a swimsuit that is well made, yet comfortable and attractive. I've bought less expensive swimsuits and they just don't stand up to the wear. :confused3 My favorite suit is one I bought at Lord & Taylor 3 years ago... end of the season clearance... looks and fits as well as the day I brought it home... definitely money well spent :teeth:

I was able to find my "pooh sized" bathing suit at Filene's (May company store) for around $52 on sale. It was originally priced $78 which is ridiculous, but what other choice do I have?

Not sure where you are but if you have a car when you get to WDW, head to Walmart. They have plus size cheap suites. As others have said, you get what you pay for but it is certainly fine for vacation

Check out Lands End online-they have overstocks and carry all sorts of types of bathing suits (I bought my mom a masectomy bathingsuit through them).

Also a Pooh sized (but Tigger tall..18W), I would pay $90 for a swim suit that looked good on me. I have 2 good looking suits each over 5years old...I am 2 sizes smaller than I was then, but they are still the only think that looks good on me. I think it might be easier for me to loose 30 Lbs than find a suit

I found a very beautiful suit at Kmart here and then one at Walmart also--plus size- ranged in price from 38-46.
Also I was looking online the other day and saw some Really nice ones at Fashion bug .com --all on sale for $52!

I am a size 14, which is rather large . I just bought a suit at JC Penney's for my trip to Disney World last month. It was $84.00 but I had a 30 per cent off coupon, so it was not too bad. I think when a person is large, it is wise to spend a little more money for something that will last awhile and fit and look good. They also have have nice pareo's and other bathing suit cover ups that come in handy when on vacation. I shop at JC Penny's all the time, but never pay full price, it all goes on sale eventually!! :flower:

LandsEnd, LandsEnd, LandsEnd. They have suits that fit just about anyone. Plus you can buy tops and bottoms separately. Also, sometimes they have them on Overstocks.com for less. I have about five suits from LE and they are identical, only different colors and sizes.

Lands End "On The Counter" has a great plus style suit today. They list the counter sales every Saturday morning and things go pretty quickly. I think from the home page go to overstocks, and from there to the counter.

14 is NOT large. That is just what the fashion designers want you to believe. 14 is average and very normal. :sad2:

As someone who goes thru lots of suits a year since I'm in the water at least 3 times a week all year round, doing water aerobics.

If you have a value city or a tj max, check there, they do carry larger sizes.
Most of the suits start at $20 at value city. I think some at TJ max start around $20 or $25. They have the conservative speedo's, for $19.99

As I'm in the water so much, doesn't matter if you spend $20 or $85 or more, its not going to last me more than 3-6 months. After so many times in the chlorine the suits start to fall apart, and become see thru. Some of course will break down, and stretch out sooner. A quality name like speedo, tyr last longer for myself. For me its not worth $60 or $80 bucks when I can goto a store and pay a fraction of the cost for the same suit. I'm less picky about my workout suit, but the nicer ones I purchased were less than $30.
I think the nike suits tend to stretch out sooner than the speedo and tyr's.

Both stores also carry brands I've never heard of, just make sure to get a suit that has a soft cup, or look for a brand you know. I made a big mistake one year, and bought a suit that caused some chaffing, just jump up and down a few times and you'll know. If its a tad scratchy, put it back.

Absolutely, Deb. That's why we have so many young girls with eating disorders :guilty:

Let me add that if you really ARE Pooh sized, you would be thrilled to wake up and be a 14 :rotfl: Thank goodness that today there are so many more choices for us generously proportioned ladies :Pinkbounc
