On our Dec. trip to WDW, we are hoping to tell our 6 year old son that he will have a brother or sister next year. No bun in the oven YET, but the plan is hopefully to be by Dec. SO...I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to make it special to tell him. One way I'd like to for sure incorporate into it is we'll be staying part of our trip at the AKL concierge so we can have them do something special for us...or have our room set up special to make it fun. IDEAS??? Anyone????

Okay I would tell him when you get back from a day and are in the room. You could buy him a plush toy and tell him to pick out a baby plush toy as well and that would be his present to his new baby brother or sister. I am not really sure how I would do it or how someone would do it but that is what I would do I guess. lol Hope it helps

First I would be sure that timming wise that that is the best time to tell him. He needs to know before a lot of other people so someone does not let it slip, but not before you are far enough along that the chance of miscarrage is a little lower. We had to tell DS about loosing a baby and it was not easy. Second be prepared for a positive or a negative reaction. At 6, being an only for quite a while is pretty much his life. He will most likely be trilled, but you need to be prepared that he might not. I would want to be sure that you are alone and have time to talk when you tell him. Not rushing out the door to the parks.

Now all that covered it could be great fun to surrprise him in some way. What about an "I'm the big brother shirt". You could even get a presonalized one done with something like "celebrating becomming a big brother at WDW". That would get him lots of attention in the parks. I like the big stuffed animal for him and a small one of the same kind for the baby. Would be neat for him tp tell the baby the story later!!!!!

Prayers on getting that little one!!!!!!

Good ideas so far. :thumbsup2
I know that it might not be met with enthusiasm so you are right, it's good to be prepared. Thankfully he has been playing with my 9 month old niece recently and asked my hubby when he was going to get a little brother or sister so at least he's asking for one. He said he wanted ne but we all know how quickly the 6 year old mind can change.
And of course he asked me WHY I was so excited the Toys R Us near us just switched over to a Babies R us today. I just burst out in excitement. Ooops. :goodvibes
