can you have TWO middle names legally?

travelgirl: if you don't go by your first name and no one knows you as that, I don't see any trouble with you dropping it altogether. I don't think it's silly at all. But it's whatever makes YOU comfortable.

What you are thinking of is exactly what I did. When we went for our marriage license, they asked me what I wante d to do w/my name..take his, etc etc. I hadn't really decided yet, and didn't realize I had to tell them then. They told me options, etc. Town Clerk was the one who suggested I keep my maiden name as part of my middle name.
So on my SS card, etc my name says....
Maiden= maiden name
married = married name
Stacy Catherine Maiden Married
I sign everything
Stacy maiden Married.
Initial....SRS (Stacy Maiden, Married)
Works out fine for me, and we all have the same last name..etc etc.
My license reads Stacy maiden married
Checks read Stacy C maiden Married.
Trying to think of any other scenarios......:goodvibes

... if i manage to get an answer i will post it here

but i plan on having my name be...

First Middle Maiden Last

NO hyphens

:)

I can help! :)
I added DH's last name because I wanted to keep mine. So my maiden name was: Saundra Marie Maven (not my real last name BTW). DH's last name is Sherburn (not his real last name). So now my full name is
Saundra Marie Maven Sherburn. I do not hyphenate and they are two last names. I had the option of adding it as a middle name but I declined, so they are my two last names.
I tend to sign Maven more than Sherburn though because otherwise I don't remember which name is for what account. So it's a bit easier to keep it straight. :)
Hope that helps!

that is EXACTLY what I want!!!

so you can now LEGALLY sign as

1. Sandy Maven

OR

2. Sandy Maven Sherburn

OR

3. Sandy Sherburn

??! And all three variations are legal? PERFECT!

whereas if you hyphenated them, then you would ALWAYS have to sign Sandy Maven-Sherburn to make it legal?

Just clarifying the good news!

My DF was SO HURT when i said i wanted to keep my name. So i'm trying to get the best of both worlds here. taking his but having mine as an option still

i like my last name! and i've been that person for 40 years!!!

:)

I have been wondering what to change my name to as well. I go by my middle name currently, but my first name has no great significance. SO, do I drop my first name and take my last name as my new middle? For example, I am :

Jane Ann Doe and I go by Ann Doe

Do I change my name to Jane Ann Newname or Ann Doe Newname? What to do? :confused3

I was thinking Ann Doe Newname, but DF thinks that is silly. He thinks that I should be Jane Ann Newname.

but that's just me!

:)

I wanted to hyphenate my name, but I didn't. 15 years later. I'm glad I didn't. #1. I can never change my last name because I have it tattooed on my ankle. DH always says if we ever divorce He's taking HIS name back. He's just letting me borrow it. #2 I don't remember how to spell my whole name. I sign everything Rhodge. school notes for the kids. EVERYTHING!! Rhodge is so much easier than Rhonda Hodge.
