Can you have a reservation with no charging priviliges?

We are planning a large family gathering and one person is handling the rooms but doesn't want their charge card used by anyone else on the trip. We know that there has to be charge card on file for the room but can we decline charging privileges for all of the guests in the room? The guests will use their own charge cards during the trip.

I searched but couldn't find if this was asked before.

I don't usually connect my cc for charging at all. The one trip I did there were some errors. I'm sure that is rare but I don't want to have to even chance it.

Yes but the card holder of record will need to stop at the front desk to remove all other "adults" from having changing privileges by default. It is very quick to setup at the front desk.

Children don't get changing privileges by default but you can even add children for charging privileges to the hotel folio.

You can go to the front desk and each room can set up their own charge card and pin. You can even have different people using different cards in the same room.

Or the cardholder could simply not give anyone else a PIN. Even if MDE requires one to be assigned (I don’t know whether it does or not), those guests don’t have to know what their PINs are. No PIN, no room charges, right?

I know you used to be able to decline charging privileges, I have a KTTW card that says "no room charges" or something like that.
But the other failsafe is don't tell anyone the PIN if you don't want them charging to the room.
