Can you have a pin and not even know it?

I have heard of people here on Disboards who call and surprisingly already have a pin code attached to their name without even knowing it? Does this happen often? Do you just call and ask once you decide when and where to book?

If I get a pin via email...do I have to call WDW to have it applied or is there a spot online I can do it?

New to all this pin code stuff and have to have one to talk the hubby into 2010 trip! Thanks all!

Yep - you can have one attached to your name. I think they used to let you call and ask randomly to see if you had a PIN. I heard they were cracking down on that a bit. I did try once a few weeks ago and said I thought my husband had thrown out a PIN offer (can't blame a girl for trying, right?), but there was not one and the CM on the phone told me that most of them are coming by e-mail these days.

My guess would be that you have to call to use it - I've never seen a place online in the reservations pages that asks for a PIN code or offer code.

You definately need to call to apply any PIN numbers to a reservation.(If you receive one in the mail or email).
I have heard instances where people have called and found out they had a PIN attached to their names...but it does seem like that is becoming less common. It seems that "We don't/can't do that" is the response from most CM's.

I recently called to book my parents a room as an xmas gift (they live in FL during the winter and go up to WDW a couple times) and the CM told me they had a PIN code and applied it to their room rate (40% off code). My parents dont even know what a PIN code is!!! and they had one attached to their names. I did not even ask if they had a PIN code when I called. So it definetly still happens...
