I am fairly new to scrapping. I have been doing scrapping for a year or two, but pretty much just creative memories simple stuff. I was DIYnet sometimes and get completely overwhelmed. I'm been checking out you swapping threads and it's like another language. I would love to get into the swapping but I don't really understand what the different elements involve. Can someone point me in a good direction to learn some new skills and lingo. Should I look on the web, take a class, go on a scrapping retreat? Help, please, my scrapping needs a creative boost! Thanks.

Since you are already familiar with some Creative Memories products, I would recommend going to their website www.creativememories.com and finding a consultant near you. Check her schedule for her next workshop and check it out.

I'd also suggest hanging out here with us. There are all levels of scrappers here and the best part, whenever a question is asked, there is always someone to answer.

That's part of the problem, I am a CM consultant. I pretty much just sell to friends and neighbors, but now I have a couple new people who would like me to do a workshop a couple times a year and teach them new things. I would also like to branch out beyond the creative memories shortcut stuff.

I enjoy watching DIY Scrapbooking - in fact it's on right now. I've been absorbing a lot of info from it, but haven't actually tried to copy any of their pages. I do find that I'm picking up enough info to help me when I try different techniques. Have you checked their Web site? http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/shows_scb/0,2044,DIY_14332,00.html

The first thing I did, though - after reading all the scrapping threads here & asking all the usual newbie questions - was to peruse the LOs on TwoPeas. Well, peruse might not be the right word....drool might be better! ;) http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg....ivate_layout=0+and+title+like+'%disney%'&pg=1

I also learned a lot from the "Techniques" page at ScrapJazz: http://www.scrapjazz.com/topics/Techniques/

In the end, I just jumped into one of the swaps & chose what I thought would be the easiest elements. It was a huge help to actually see the things in person - it clarified many questions I'd had after looking at the photos. Have you checked out the photos Em has posted of the past swaps? That should help a lot.

Good morning :sunny: I would like to suggest Simple Scrapbooks magazine. If you are steppin' up your style but don't want to be totally overwhelmed it is a great resource. You can find it at Michaels or check out a craft store near you (coupons make it an even better buy). They also have a website and related books if you find that is more your style.

My pictures are here: http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumList?u=4084831

On the Swap: Magic Kingdom I went through and labeled what everything was called- There should be 3-4 varieties of each item we usually swap (some of the newer things like Pockets, Folders, and Altered CDs/cards havent been through a completed swap so I dont have them to post yet) to give you a clue about what things we do-

Ask ALL questions- everyone of us was starting out at some point... -em

Thank you so much for all of you suggestions. Ok, I'm a little overwhelmed right now, but at least I have some direction.

I just looked at some of the pictures. WOW! I'm starting to get excited about scraping again. I've been in a bit of a slump. Thanks so much!
